I dunno, I first saw it as an adult, and I totally loved it. Maybe it's the furry mindset- furs are predisposed to like things like that. *shrugs* Still an awesome move!

I thought it was an okay movie. Main character was next to useful, but still a fun movie. :V

i loved it enough that when they released it on dvd as a special edition with a book on insight on the movie and sketches and even a film slide duplicate, i had to have it. i think most adults don't like it now if they had never seen it is the dark atmosphere it had and if your movie wasn't like the muppets going somewhere, most of his other movies were dark...even labyrinth was a little dark...albeit funny and with a sexy david bowie....but yeah, i get this feeling most adults who'd never seen it didn't watch muppets often or didn't grow up around any sort of puppetry of some sort in their lives. but for me, its always been a cherished movie.

I think it's because it's so experimental it winds up being a little differently paced from what a lot of people are now accustomed to. The action is subtle and downplayed, the relationship between the gelflings can't quite be parsed as the requisite film romance (it isn't), and the hero is very much a child discovering the larger world. All of these are reasons I like the movie, but I can see people just not getting it.
