From Cold to Annoyance
Well, came back from a Winter Warfare training weekend. Dam cold in the mornings, -40*c with the wind chill. Learned the basics of winter survival, not so much on combat.
We built snow defenses, one out of all snow and another with tree logs and snow.
We fired 300 5.56mm and 200 7.62mm rounds into both of the defenses. All the targets survived.
Don't know how deep the bullets got into the wooden/snow wall, but my group was in charge of the complete snow wall. The bullets only got about 2ft/0.5m into the snow (where I packed it), out of the 18ft wall.
Apparently they did a snow wall demostration in Ottawa by the GGFGs and the bullet went through and hit the target, so everyone laughed at the fact snow can stop a bullet. Well, yes it can, the idiots didn't make their wall right or never built a god dam snow fort when a kid in their life.
Also, besides getting back home, I discovered one of my 1TB harddrives in my RAID 0 setup on my PC was producing errors, so I had backed up some recent files and took my dad's advice on using the Norton Ghost15 data copy from January 5th 2011 to back up on, since a Ghost image can restore your PC to that time so you don't have to reinstall everything again.
Well, after fighting with the re-installation for the past 2 days, I found out I cannot put my PC back to the Ghost image and must reinstall everything all over again.
Should have just copied everything onto one hard drive and pasted it back like last time :/
At least now I got my PC back to date. So massive delay in artwork there, besides cleaning this dam house and job searching. Seems I will never get to draw again or something D:
So how are you guys?
P.S. I manage to get a triple feed jam on my C7A2 while shooting on the weekend. The rifles were all bran new (covered in greese), so my bolt froze and magazine housing had issues. Usually get a double feed jam, but triple is a rare and WTF?>HOW? moment.

fixed
Igloos take 20mins to make.
Snow cave takes 2 hours.
Aren't we smart :D
Nah, but igloos need hard packed snow, while snow cave you can use loose or hard.
Also, the Russians being hardcore snow people like us/more is a myth, for the Captain mention how they got 3 Russians from Moscow to tag along with them. The Sargent had metal teeth and was medivaced for frost bite, leaving only the 2 Russian Majors left.
But they apparent freaked out when the Canadians told them they were gonna live in an igloo, thinking that Canadians are crazy to live in snow and that they will all die. But they got over after the igloo was done and found how warm it was.
lol snow forst except these WILL ACTUALLY DEFEND YOU.
