There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a style. Any artist who keeps at it is bound to develop one, and have it grow over time. it is not just a signature and a way to be recognized in what you draw, it is a part of you.
the physical quirks in how you draw, your comfort zones in your line work, the colors you are drawn to, your personality.etcetcetc. having a style is fine.
the only things worng with style is using it as a crutch to cop out on learning, improvement or anatomical mistakes. or in trying to emulate another persons (example, hurr durr I want to draw like Blahblahlbah)

in short deciding to hate a word or concept without properly understanding what it even is or how it is properly applied or how it may be abused does not make you look dignified or smart. it just shows how little you know, how little you WANT to know, and makes you look like a tool
