Well, most of what they do can be justified in the early stages. People too full of themselves, claims of unfairness, etc. Problem is that someone usually ends up pushing it too far.
I only join in on the website takedowns and stuff. There's rarely more than 3 or 4 people in an event who will call someone's house, for example.

You know, it's a really interesting thing in terms of human psychology.... the idea of a hivemind. So many, with so many motives, all acting as one, stripped of individuality, ambiguous in identity... chilling to think of, but in an odd way it's the best representation of a fully synchronized society. Though whether that's a good thing is probably QUITE debatable. xD

They have no intents, when considering anon as a whole. Zooming in on one piece of the puzzle can reveal interests from the noble to the self-serving, but for the most part the hivemind acts quite capriciously, shifting it's actions to represent the majority desires of it's members. It's a democracy, in a quirky sort of way.

And I go on 4Chan a good bit, I really just lurk though when it comes to /b/. xD 4Chan is a site, not entirely populated by Anon. There's boards for cooking, sports, video games, cute pictures, hentai (they have a yuri board, my favorite! x3) and whatnot, while /b/ board is considered the official home of anon. One could say it's where things all started, but anonymous has many other homes in the shadier spots of the 'net.
They troll and hack, but as has been mentioned above, they've done many good things too. Sure, they mostly do evil, nasty things, but at least they have some nice stuff to show. xD

And I don't think your feelings make you a bad person at all.. how could feelings make someone bad? I've got some weird crushes, god knows I'm ashamed of em and I'd never tell a soul, but they're there and there isn't much I can do to change them. Don't sweat it, it's just one of the cool things that makes you who you are. ^.^

Newfag is an expression for the "nouveau anonymous", kinda like the people who come in on the spot just to feel cool or twist the hivemind to their own wants and needs. Usually they have zero knowledge of memes (or very poor knowledge!) but still try to overuse them, they plus think that telling all their RL friends that they're anon will get them street cred. Kinda like "LOOK AT ME I'M ANONYMOUS, LOL". They have no real desire other than to feel cool, thinking they belong. There's a buttload of newfags in my robotics class, they think wearing 4Chan shirts and spouting memes makes them special. I just scream "LURK MORE" and then walk away when they get annoying. ROFL

The key to not becoming a newfag is to lurk and lurk and lurk some more. Basically, that just means do your research. View /b/ threads without participating, browse ED, do all that kind of stuff for months and months and you're guaranteed to not be a newfag :D

I don't even consider myself an anon, even though I lurk like hell and even post sometimes, just because to me anon seems like a confusing, capricious, world-hating bunch of angry geeks. I mean, sure they do cool shit sometimes, but to me it just seems cruel and tempestuous. x3
