How do you find new artists to watch?

General
This is one of those "just curious" questions I've been wondering for a while.
Me, I usually find new artists through the favorites lists of artists I already watch. Sometimes, also, when I see someone post a comment somewhere, if their icon stands out to me, I'll frequently click on over and give their gallery a go-through. This is phenomenally shallow, of course, and unreliable, since many incredible artists have derpy or goofy icons (case in point:
birds), and many people have fantastic icons who don't even upload art, thanks to the magical phenomenon of icon commissions. But sometimes I'll happen on a really great artist that way.
I'm also likely to watch someone if I see them leaving especially intelligent or poignant comments somewhere, and their user page or journals contain evidence of a brilliant/interesting mind that I'd like to know more about.
How about you?
Do you browse? Search? Do automatic watch-backs when someone watches you?

FA+

and from time to time some people say go watch that person and then I look through their gallerie and when I find it worth I add them
5% spotting an intriguing piece of art on the front page recent uploads
90% going through other peoples faves
example: someone that comments on this journal receives my random click to their user page. I look at their gallery and/or favorites. Then I look at another comment on a submitted piece or look at an artist on their favorites, and repeat.
I get distracted easily... <.<;
Simple searches occasionally, sorting by date and skimming the first few pages for something with potential.
Browsing Favorites of people on my watchlist.
Sites like e621 which happen to have a much better tagging system in place for searching compared to FA's search.
(if you can stand wading through all the really weird crap that usually swamps those sites)
Sometimes I even just browse the first few pages of the FA site...usually when I can't sleep lol.
If I see a comment which interests me, I'll generally click it then go rummage through the users gallery. The other main method is the old one of browsing the favourites of those in my own watch list.
Other than that was mostly, when I first found the site, being able to remember some artists and thinking "Hmm, wonder if they have a page..." and searching for them by name.
I've seen a couple of people who did journals asking for information on artists too, these have usually got some good responses too. One of the most useful ones I found was this one, posted by Ultraviolet a few months ago:

Probably the single largest tool used when finding new artists for me though: Random chance!
That's how I came to and faved you!
