What color mode are you using? CMYK or RGB?

Have you tried saving in other file types like .jpeg or .bmp or .psd?

Have you checked the resolution?

Ugh, didn't hit reply. It's in RGB, at 300 dpi, and it looks right when saved as .psd and opened in SAI and then saved in there as .png. :/

that's very weird. I tried that few times and hasn't occured to me...yet.

Nope, hadn't changed anything. I kind of wonder if it hasn't been doing this all along - I recently switched computers and upgraded to CS4 from CS2 when I switched. =/ For the time being, I'm reinstalling CS2. Let me know if you figure it out? :c

I have CS2 as well. But perhaps that's a key part; CS4. I was talking to someone a while ago about some parts being glitchy in CS4 (or CS3??). Maybe that could be a part of it...but i doubt it.

I'm not sure, but it might have something to do with the way colour profiles are set up.

Are you using the normal Save, or Save for Web?

Try it. “Save for Web” is a plug-in—or at least it is up through CS3—while “Save As” is part of the application itself. There may be signficant differences in the code, which may result in significant differences in the resulting files.

Save for web seems to be helping. How strange, I didn't have this issue in CS3. *shrug* Thank you!

I'm not really sure what the advantages/disadvantages are, but I know save for web gives you a preview of what it will look like, and in some cases, more specific controls. You might be able to play around with the settings in there to see what it's doing.
I find that for JPG/GIF/PNG formats save for web serves my needs a lot better.
