I just wanted to say...
That I finished Kyell Golds Waterways.
I bought it at FC 2010 as well at OOP. I had read OOP starting at FC and I finished a few days later. But I had completely forgot about Waterways. I found it in our "furry" drawer,(it has stuff such as Dog Days and the Heat series) while I was cleaning the other day and picked it up.
I happened to open it and I started to read it and quite quickly got sucked into it. I was planning to read only a few pages but it turned into a 6+ hour read-a-thon. Once I looked up from the book at the time I realized I had to get other stuff done.
But I would read it when I was able too... watching TV, in the bathroom(yeah I know TMI) But I just couldn't stop reading it.
I must say that while I was reading it it kinda hit home. It made me remember back when I was in HS (graduated 07) Such as the fights I had with my mom, the people making fun of me for being in swimming and the like. (at that time I was not out even to myself. I had a few GF's back then) But also reading it reminded me of how much happier I am now that I am out and all of that. AS well as all the back and forth with myself, the uncertainty and all that goes along with it. I use to say that I was "straight as an arrow" but I had that little voice in my head that always said "are you sure?" "is that true?" "you know its not" but I am happy that voice just grew after I joined the fandom and that I listened to it.
I was expecting my mom to act the way the main characters mom did but she acted more like the other characters mom was. My mom is a Catholic and she is very religious.
The book is an instant fave for me. I know it's one of the very few I will reread time and again. I have more that I want to wright but my head just just isn't letting me.
BUT if you haven't read Waterways yet do so. Trust me its well worth the read. If you have how did it affect you?

But I totally agree on the excellent find. I'm thrilled with it.
Those books I´m curious to buy ^^
Yeah people did mainly the basketball and hockey players. But the wrestlers would just raz the swimmers and we'd raz them back. But the hockey players were the worst. But yeah Fritz really did kick our asses some days with practice. I really miss swimming a lot. I dont think you'd drown I mean you lived in MN and we went swimming all the time.
Ya hockey players where the worst on us too. Us wrestlers pretty much would get the swimmers back if needed. I remember always giving the swimmers fun crap too Haha. Fritz was a Kickass dude no joke there I loved having him as a teacher!
Hopefully ill be back in Minnesota too xD that state rocks, cause there is always something to do!!
Wrestling wins Haha
Yeah and the swimmers would get the wrestlers back if needed as well. But I think the crap giving from wrestlers and swimmers is a natural thing. Fritz is a kickass dude. Plus his hair style hasn't changed from when he went to HS. I saw his senior photo its excatly the same. But he is a wonderful teacher and coach. He actually took me on as a Assistant Coach back on the 07-08 season.
Yeah that would be awesome. XP
Swimming will ALWAYS win over wrestling
I agree the crap giving between wrestling and swimming is natural!
Oo its on!! XD xD
BRING IT BOTCH!! XP
Oh and screw making fun of swimmers, id live in water if i could haha
I really didn't know what I was through high school. I thought I was straight but yet I grew up having my biggest crushes on male cartoon characters... >.> I could never explain that. I did kinda have girl crushes when I was younger too, but never had a girlfriend - way too shy.
Then I went to college, found furry, slowly started to find guys attractive and here I am lol.
My mom actually found out because my brother went through my stuff, found some of my gay furry porn and told her -.- It was funny because my sis was hiding lipstick she was using in my drawer (She wasn't supposed to wear cosmetics and I was supposed to keep it a secret).
So when my mom came and asked me about it, she asked if I was transgendered too because of the lipstick and that she would love me still anyway. I said no of course, but still funny in retrospect. My mom was always supportive of me and I love her for that.
My dad however... he doesn't know and I'll keep it that way.
Same here. I wasnt 100% sure but I conformed to the "system". I though as well I at the start but I couldn't help but notice that I would notice the others in the locker room from time to time.(especially after swimming... go figure lol) I had a few and one of mine is still a great friend.
Thats pretty much the same for me as well. I went to college, found furry and did the same lol.
I told my mom over the phone and she called my dad and told him to call me. He did and said that there was a "problem" but I played it off like nothing happened. (they are divorced and both remarried)
But my mom, dad, stepdad and stepmom are very supportive. (I never officially told my dad but he figured it out and could care less) I have been posting pics of me and Hunt in suit on my family web page for my dads side so I hope a few of my aunts and uncles have figured it out as well. I do love my parents because I was expecting the exact opposite from my mom.
It a sport that I have ALWAYS loved. Its the most dehydrating of any sport but one of the most physical and demanding sports. I've been swimming since I was really little and competing from 5th or 6th grade up until I graduated in 07. The following year my coach hired me on as a Assistant Coach. It was strange coaching my own teammates from the year before but that quickly disappeared after the first 3 practices.
I do miss my swimming body but I do plan to get back into the pool and fix that.
Did they have varsity swimming there? I'm just curious because I always thought varsity jackets were so awesome ^^
But the fact that you coached is pretty cool. Mean you really knew your stuff! I was also sort of the "coach" of the NYU mascot team for a few year. What a stressful job that was! Made me understand the pros and cons of being in charge of a group of people and taking the responsibility for pretty much...everything.
Yeah I was on the JV team until 7th or 8th grade then I was Varsity every year after that. I lettered in all my sports so many times that my Chevrons actually start a second row on my jacket. lol I lettered 5 times my senior year.
Actually coaching swimming is easy. Well for me it was because of all the years I swam under my coach so I know how he would set up a practice and all of that. SO yards and times to set for the swimmers and all of that. It's awesome that you got to do that. But coaching is a stressful job for sure. But its a very rewarding position.
What were the jacket colors? Is there a pic of it anywhere? I'd love to see it to be honest ^^
My school colors are Orange and Black. We were the Park Rapids Panther. As for a put I'll have to loom but if I find one I'll post it for you.
Was the jacket kinda like this with the collar and all or the more classic style?
