update: he's not dead yet, but when we went over, he was starting to say he was ready... while we over, my grandmother said it was the most he'd been talking and active all day, but that's not saying much. He also took a ring that his parents gave him when he was 21, and that he's worn ever since then, and gave it to my older brother.
