I'm alive, no thanks to that car...
Last night, I had to walk home from work, after 11:00pm. That's normally not a problem, except last night, it was icy all over the place, and there's a stretch of road where the sidewalk is still covered in heavy snow, so I have to walk in the road itself.
As I'm traveling that very stretch of road, I can hear a car approaching from behind me. I turn around, and see that it's in the lane I'm walking in. I started over to the side of the road to hop off momentarily, since I had time enough that I didn't have to rush...until I slipped on a patch of black ice and fell. So now I'm suddenly lying on the road with a car barreling towards me, apparently unaware that I'm in the road at all (No honking, attempts to swerve, nothing!). But I didn't have time to actually think of all that, though. I only had time to be aware of my situation and MOVE! I half got up, and did this half run/half crawl off the road, and less than a second after I hit the snow on the side of the road, the car zipped right past me.
I took a moment, while lying on my back in the snow and catching by breath, to fully take it what the hell just happened. I literally got within a second of being run over by a speeding car. Suddenly grateful to be alive, I did what most people would have done in this situation: I updated my Facebook with what just happened. =P After a few minutes, though, I guess the adrenaline or whatever wore off, because I felt a good bit of pain in my arm, but I figured at the time that it was possibly a bruise or something from falling.
This morning, though, I found the result of my near-death experience...My wrist is sprained, and pretty badly swollen. Worse yet, it's my right (dominant) hand, so that means this will heavily restrict a lot of stuff I can do...Not only work, but drawing! I can't draw now! T_T But I guess when your only options are sprain your wrist or possibly die from being struck by a car, I'll deal with the sprain. Because, as I'm sure you're aware, it won't matter whether or not your wrist is sprained if you're dead. =\
The ongoing theory about all of this is that the driver might have been drunk, or even slightly buzzed, and wasn't fully aware of where they were going and/or what was in the road. After all, this was roughly midnight when this happened, and midnight after Super Bowl at that. I made my bosses at work know of the situation, so they know that I am injured, but I can still work. I'll just have to be easy on my hand for a while. Also have to contact people that wanted some arts from me that I can't do anything until it heals enough to draw right again. =P I'll be alright, though. There's worse that could happen.
There's always worse that can happen.

Okay, it is now serious time to start saving up (even if just 5 bucks here and there) and getting your truck fixed. That was TOOOOOOO close :o
Problem is, until I can get more work, I won't be able to afford gas to drive it. =P
