so what does valentines day mean to you?

to me, it means that a long time ago a guy named "Valentine" was convicted by the Romans for being a christian. He was put do death, but before he had died, he was rumored to heal the blindness of the jailer's daughter.
of course in the Renaissance age, the beginnings of courting and chivalry (at least formally) it became more of what it's known as now. I put effort in finding meaning to this stupid holiday, and this is all I picked up, so debatably, it wasn't "made up by stupid card company" so there.
I still call it "why am I the only one walking around without someone attached to my arm? :/"
so yea, its a good day and all. If I was in a relationship, let alone one in real life, I think it would be a fucking fantastic day for me.
but, I'd rather celebrate the saint get killed by the Romans. I think someone should care for the poor sod.

actually, what i was told was, marrige was no longer aloud in rome because it caused men to stay our of the army. with marige no longer alowed, the guys went into the army. saint valentine married people in secret, and was later put to death.
