Just another day? Or something more?
Valentine's day. Saint Valentine's Day. Monday.
It all depends on how you look at it. Is it just another day or is it something more to you? In the vast history that is my life LOL I have found that with few exception, it depends on your relationship status.
For the most part, if you are single, then it's (grumble grumble) just another day and thanks for reminding me that I'm single you *$&#%#* And there ARE exceptions to that, but for the most part single= just another day.
If you are in love, or in lust, or in-fatuated with someone, then it's an excuse to lavish them with whatever attentions you can. I don't know what drives us for this one, blinded by sex goggles or potential sex goggles, the thrill of outdoing any other potential attention givers, or just plain old romantic notions, we spend massive amounts of money on this day.
If you are "just together" for whatever reason, then it's a chore, I "HAVE" to get them something, it's (whiney voice) Vaaaalentine's Daaaay. For these people, perhaps singledom would be better, no?
Then there are the "long timers" who remember at the last moment. It's not that they don't care for their loved one, it's that, well, life has a way of taking the glitter off. There are bills and kids and jobs, perhaps school. These people have been together long enough that "they know I love them, but if I don't do anything for V day, they may get their feelings hurt".
Finally, you have those that dislike the day just because "why do I have to have a day that is commercialized and chocolate covered to show someone I love them? I'm NOT doing it!!!". These people will refuse to participate no matter what their relationship status.
So what are you? What are your thoughts? Just another day? Or something more?
Oh, and HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY **no matter what your outlook

I have actually always loved Valentines day, but that may be just because I never in my life thought I would even get a date so might as well just be happy about it either way.

I'm somewhere between the (Grumble grumble) single guy and the "why do I have to have a day that is commercialized and chocolate covered to show someone I love them? I'm NOT doing it!!!" kind of person.

A valid standpoint although not widely enjoyed. LOL I get it though. If you love someone, then shouldn't your anniversary or any other day of your choosing be the day you tell them you love them? Hell, shouldn't you say it or show it everyday? Yeah, been there.
