I think its silly. Every one improves ALL the time. Your never at your best you can only get better so why be butthurt over it?

People say that to me all the time, and I take it as a compliment...because it is! It means im doing what I want to do, improve!

Once in the past, I've said to a guy how much he has improve since I've seen his first art, he acted like a jerk without any reason :D I dunno why I just made that journal right now

Most likely because its becoming more common XD. Its really the generation of kids.

A vast percent (not all so dont think im talking about all lol) have no clue how to act these days. I know im 20...but even I see some kids two years younger them me act as if the world owes them every thing. Its a matter of, they dont want to hear that they may not be as good as they were, they think they are perfect to start with.

I think it's a VERY petty thing to get upset over. :C Improvement is a GOOD THING. I guess people take it as "omg you mean i sucked before??!?!"

Yeah, I find that funny for some who try to reply to EVERYTHING.

I don't understand any artist trying to pretend that they like their own art. Then again, I suppose a few do. My roomate does it for attention, she'll be all like "Oh yeah, I drew that, thanks for saying nice things about it." while acting like she did not set up the showing off of her art for that sole purpose. I am at least a shameless attention whore and acknowledge my art is crap and thank people profusely for flattering me.

Of course, like many artists I get super butt hurt about critiques(not really it's just that people generally point out all the flaws I already knew were there, which is why I generally don't want critiques).

Critiques is a different thing :D

wtf, it makes me feel good that I HAVE improved instead of thinking I haven't gained any skill. I look at my old work and go "oh god, wtf was I thinking that it actually looked good?!" improvement is a compliment. >:P

actually someone once out of the blue sent me a not saying they have been watching my art from the begining and were amazed @ my improvement. i think it was one of the best complements ive ever gotten, some ppl just take themselves too seriously.

i generally dislike compliments but I try to deal with them
Maybe someone thinks that they've got worse over time or changed 'their style' to something they're not really fond of as opposed to their earlier works.
I also got worse in some areas, like drawing with mouse+mspaint, I did some nice shit with that but can't do that anymore.

I always feel that shit I'm getting worse by every art , not meaning I was ever good enough.
I'm sure you could regain that knowledge once you got

it depends, if you feel like you get worse you might feel that way due to being exposed to lots of other artists
i know i thought i was better than toast when I was 12 like 5 years ago because I didn't know anyone else who drew that well.. or at all, really
