Thx a lot for answering with so many awesome comments in my previous journals.
soAre you a self-taught artist or you are currently in an art school/university

art teachers piss me off
art teachers couldn't teach you to draw awesome creepy things like you do :D
they keep trying to enforce their own view of art and intrests in art.
but really i just want to do my own thing.
Even the few classes I've had have not added anything to what I do. They actually made me hate certain things more :P
I have taken art classes, don't get me wrong.. But they all seem the same. "Draw this. exactly how I say."
I mean, isn't the point of art to break out of your own shell and be creative and original? It's nice to take a basic art class when you are younger to get a basic idea of light, colour, shape, etc. But to do the same thing in higher grades and even in college courses? Not my thing. Besides, I seem to learn better from personal experience and trial/error, rather than copying and/or memorization.
Only thing I wish I knew how to draw more of is landscapes and nature.. but in my town the only "nature" art classes are drawing wax fruit. :/
sorry for the short reply but I can't say any clever :D
I'd personally take lessons too :V
Sure, I learned a bunch of tips and skills from art classes like perspective and anatomy in my everyday school. But anything style wise I built on my own. @u@
you are welcome
...
lol, wow, so many self taught artists around here.
Honestly though? Being self taught doesn't necessarily make you any better than the person who takes classes. You can learn a lot in classes that you don't by yourself. So many artists look at tutorials and don't think anything of it but when you ask them about classes they're like, "PSSH. I'M TOO GOOD FOR THAT."
I would like to take more art classes. o: That'd be cool.
and all of my art teachers were too old to care about anatomy and shading and whatever and they were just like IT'S THE CONCEPT IT'S THE SOUL YOU PUT INTO YOUR WORK and shit
You did a great job on the self-teaching
anatomy and so forth is way too rigid for the grand majority of the pupils who just don't care so instead they get to mess around with ideas, my school is in no way specialized into the arts.
However, I look to other artists (not art teachers) to help me with improvement.
yay irl art-meets!
