What the HELL is with the My Little Pony obsession lately???
Every tenth or so submission in my inbox has something to do with it, a good 70% of them adult rated. Before Wednesday of last week I'd see maybe one image related to MLP every 500 submissions or less frequent. That was okay, cos I could just ignore it and move on. Now it's one out of roughly ever ten I get in. Seriously, WTF is goin on guys????
Let me explain reasons why I find FA's recent obsession with MLP disturbing:
1) Aren't they all underage?
2) Wasn't the original TV show geared toward children?
3) Doesn't that kinda seem like cub porn (in reference to the adult rated images)????
Come on gaiz, it's just creepy. And I think I bring up some very valid points here. Do feel free to contest them if you have decent evidence that suggests I'm way off in left field somewhere.

Hips and breasts on ferals = WEIRD xD
Also Anon... FURS???!! What kind of an oxymoron is those people's existence??? xDDD >.>
But it is quite fun to watch them try to shitflood fur threads whilst fapping their unmentionables into jerky XD
I'd wager a lot of articles about furries written on Encyclopedia Dramatica were probably written by other furs. :)
::goes back to playing with my dolls::
Certain image boards are almost becoming infested with talk about the new series and how adorable it is, and then there are those that find it strangely arousing. I don't quite understand it, and
If you did a search for 'Cub' and filtered it by popularity, you probably won't be surprised by what hasn't been removed from the site yet, no matter how old the submission is or how popular it has become.
THIS.
As well, it's something that must be seen to be understood. A few episodes should make the obsession clear.
As a final note: What "kid" is going to understand a "Benny Hill" chase scene, a factory town, "Blazing Saddles" references, the number 42, Derpface or "Appletini"?
The previous series from the 80s (as well as the toy line) has a notoriously younger female target audience, they're gonna have to go a LOOOOOOONG way to break that.
probably because it isn't stereotypically girly.
1) Technically, they'd all be considered "adults" (albeit young), if not older teens. Even Spike, the dragon, being a "baby," doesn't seem to be that infantile.
2) Yes, I think the original was geared towards children (never actually watched it). There's a good chance, however, that this is the type of show where, even if it's made for kids, it's still enjoyable for adults (by comparison, a show like Phineas & Ferb is actually made for the creators and older viewers; they just make sure not to exclude kids when they make it for themselves, the adults).
3) Going back to the first question, only if certain characters in the show are drawn would it be seen as "cub;" there actually are differences between the "kids" on the show, the older "main cast," and the older adults.
All in all, I'm neutral on the whole thing. Having actually watched all that they made so far, I don't think that it's so bad...I don't see why people are going crazy over it (the one reason why I did said research), but it's still not so bad.
Furthermore, your points aren't too valid in themselves. Let me expand.
1) Aren't they all underage?
Any artist can say anything about their own artwork. Plus, add boobs and suddenly there is no question of age. As for the more feral artwork, all the artist has to do is add a disclaimer (or, assuming the FA mods have already tried to do something about said pics, simply say "it's over 18").
2) Wasn't the original TV show geared toward children?
Doesn't matter. This point is ENTIRELY invalid if only because of the fact that Rule 34 exists. There's porn of Thomas the Tank Engine, for pity's sake.
3) Doesn't that kinda seem like cub porn (in reference to the adult rated images)????
This is basically your point 1, just in different words, so this is redundant.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm hardly disagreeing with your stance. You'll need actual VALID points if you want to combat this.
However, my stance is very easy to define: I don't care one way or the other about MLP porn. I don't hate it. I don't like it. I simply do not CARE. This is the internet. Get used to the oddities, weirdness, and nonsense.
"Rule 34; nuff said." ...Not really. Why Rule 34 all the time, on everything, everywhere?
"Doesn't matter. [...] There's porn of Thomas the Tank Engine, for pity's sake." ...Why do you KNOW this? xD Also... why should there be this sort of "I don't care." mentality in your head before you go online? Porn of Thomas the Tank Engine sounds stupid, impossible and pointless. ...Why should people have to tolerate that sort of thing, rather than speaking out about it?
"This is the internet. Get used to the oddities, weirdness and nonsense." ...Why should he have to? Saying this (as SO many people ALWAYS do when someone objects to something they find strange) is much like someone else telling you to get used to the mundanity, boredom and plainness of something you're at least hoping for different from.
Maybe there *isn't* anything that can be done about it. ...And maybe it's because the vast majority of people like yourself who "don't care" (and those who love it and want more) outnumber the few who find the oddest concepts things they would much rather not see. Maybe if a few more people spoke up about what they think should and shouldn't be done here online, there'd be a few less shocks and a bit less confusion about what people are thinking. Some things don't actually *need* to be posted online as soon as they're created.
Yes really, unfortunately for most of us. XD Thing is, rule 34 exists because there will always be someone who enjoys SOMETHING we may not. Because of that, porn will eventually exist of said subjects, though it sounds far-fetched at first. There's even been porn of CHAIRS. CHAIRS for cryin' out loud. XD
""Doesn't matter. When you have the friends I do, you'll understand EXACTLY why I know this. XD Weird as the numbnuts are, I love and cherish the asswits. XD
However, regarding my "I don't care" mentality, the only reason I have such a mentality is because I know there will be nothing I can do to stem the tide. People will draw what they wish, pure and simple, and a little internet person will not stop it. Now, if I could somehow affect the tide, sure, I'd care. But fact is fact: this is the internet. I can MAYBE stop the tide here, but it will forever exist elsewhere. That's all.
""This is the internet. Get used to the oddities, weirdness and nonsense." ...Why should he have to? On the internet, this IS a very valid argument, y'see. The internet, being as public and easily-accessed as it is, will always be a sort of 'dump' or 'storage' for everyone. I can't say too much regarding the last bit of your statement though; it doesn't mesh well with the beginning of your statement. Clarify a little, please?
"Maybe there *isn't* anything that can be done about it. ...And maybe it's because the vast majority of people like yourself who "don't care" (and those who love it and want more) outnumber the few who find the oddest concepts things they would much rather not see. Regarding things they need not see, they can very easily just look away. Who knows, perhaps a lot of the posts of the MLP porn is a sort of trolling, and by responding (journal-wise, for this example) she has fed the trolls. Who knows, really? Fact remains that people will do as they see fit, period. Some people might listen and reply in kind, others will hold true to the 'I do what I want, so suck it' mindset. As for me, I prefer to simply watch the fireworks. I don't do so out of some self-imposed position of superiority, I do so because I don't see a point in stemming the tide, regardless of subject. It's lines on paper (or on a digital canvas) and it's nowhere near illegal, so why should I take steps against it? If it is something the artist wishes to do, then they have every right to do so. We, quite literally, have ZERO say in what an artist decides to draw. Asking to stop won't hurt, don't get me wrong, but they are the only ones who will decide what ends up on their page.
I do enjoy your viewpoints, however. Please, continue. :)
This was merely my query to the userbase to shed a little insight as to just what exactly is going on, why so suddenly and why this in particular?
2. People have this strange tendency to draw porn involving things they like. Especially here.
Number two, yeah after a while you just learn to ignore the shit people spew everywhere. xP
The new cartoon that's out is supposedly very well written. I'm guessing that means there's some of that "little bit of something for everyone" kind of humor to it. Something adults and kids can both watch and enjoy or be amused with. That's the first thing.
The second thing is MLP is an old school cartoon that a lot of the older furries watched when they were kids, and has now received a decent revival in the new series. It offers some of those older furries the chance to express things about a formerly obscure cartoon in the way most furries like to express things about cartoons they like it seems... with porn.
The third, and perhaps the main reason for all the stuff you've been seeing is the overwhelming obsession with Rule 34... that horrible concept that turns any benign anthro, feral, or cartoon creation of someone else's into an uncontrollable slut, sex machine, etc. There is no real REASON behind Rule 34... it's just one of those sad facts of being in the fandom that has people who aren't involved in it looking at furries like they'd rape a child in public.
MLP is 1. Popular, 2. Well done., 3. Interesting to watch. (I'm guessing on the second two, since I *still* haven't tried watching it, but from all I've been told, it's actually kinda good.) Since that's the case, some artists are gonna draw art of it simply because it's the "thing" of the moment... just like Renamon and Krystal were for a while. Some people are gonna let their urge to "destroy your childhood" loose, and draw sick images of MLP; not because they really need to, but just because they want attention. And some few are actually going to be turned on (*gags a bit*) but non-anthro, cartoony horses with semi-human personalities drawn in bright colors, and draw stuff of it because they think it's "hot".
Sadly, I think that's all there is to it. People see something cool in cartoon form and wanna be part of it, and so are drawing things of it, be it porn, art, or otherwise, in an attempt to become popular *through* it themselves. As for the journals? That's just because people are catching on to it (I think) and are just trying to share.
Lauren Faust, the creative force behind the cartoon also helped create "The PowerPuff Girls" and "Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends". People who like those shows will likely find they like the new "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" cartoon. Sure, kids like those too. But I know plenty of adult fans of those other cartoons as well. =)
I also don't think it's one of those "popular for the sake of being popular". One person really likes it and gets their friends interested. They get their friends interested, and so on. And pretty soon it's everywhere. I honestly think people just really love the show.
Also--I think there are quite a fair amount of people who are into other "children's cartoons" or "children's movies", and each has their own reason for liking it. There is soooo much fan art of everything out there. I mean, I could list shows and movies that people are into. XP I mean, come to think of it, I think a lot of interest in anthropomorphic animals comes from these "children's shows and movies". I know mine did! That was long before I even knew there was a fandom for this stuff. :P
A lot of the art I've seen actually isn't Rule 34. There's some, but if it is they're anthropomorphized, and given hips and breasts. I think it's that people like the character's personality more than anything, and it's the face, mane and tail (and style of legs/hooves) that make it identifiable as MLP. :)
all the porn/art if seen of mlp is non-cub, i watched a few eps and there are some cubs in there, but i haven't seen porn of them at all
Yeah that show is geared to little children, is the furry fandom geared towards adults because of the porn? are jailbait and people under 18 in the fandom? yes.
lolcubpornofmlp
And no, there isn't enough pin-uppy goodness on this site, it makes me sad.
So yeah, the characters are around 15-25
And why it's so "popular" I'm not really sure about, maybe since it's ALLOT better then allot of the crap shows that gets shown currently. But it's still rather "meh" on some parts. Still manages to get out a decent message.
And that also depends, it can be cub porn if the "younger" characters are used.
Otherwise it's just feral porn.
1. There is a new series on the Hub, with a dramatically different style of art and storytelling from previous incarnations of MLP. It was created and produced by Lauren Faust who has previously worked on the Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary friends and is married to Craig McCracken, the creator of the aforementioned shows, both of which ahve had a strong stylistic impact on the new series.
2. The new show is addictive. Like ridiculously so. Like "sucking people in who have never had a previous interest in MLP in their lives" levels of addictive. I don't know if it's the art style, the characters, the stories, or the sheer surprise that anything with the words "My" "Little" and "Pony" in the title would be watchable at all, let alone well-executed and fairly clever, but people are succumbing to it in droves regardless of age or sex. We're known as "bronies" apparently. >.>
3. Although no specific ages have been mentioned for anyone, in the context of the show it's clear that the core cast of characters are all adults, or at the very least older teenagers. So far kids in the cast have been kept to a minimum.
Hope that clears up the mystery!
MLP was always lame to me, I never was a "pony girl" into horses and all that, keep your horses. I watched Power Rangers.
...by the by, would you be able to resend that song you once gave me before? :0 Somehow I can't find it and I've recently had the urge to hear it again since it's so awesome, of course. :P The one by you, I mean. I can't even remember what it's called, it's so sad!
