well pixar are ver very good. dreamworks has a tendancy to release cheap story lines with beautiful effects. but HTTYD was just...the whole package, I wish it'd won.
How can anyone be mad after seeing such a glorious icon?
....
...me. >C
I cried during Toy Story 3. And not the good kind. How to Train Your Dragon was a feel-good movie that made me see it four more times...I've decided to ignore the existence of Toy Story 3 because it depressed me so much.
But considering that when I go into Walmart, and all the HTTYD stuff is barely touched anymore, and TS3 stuff is flying off the shelf, you kind of gotta expect TS3 to win.
Both films were a piece of art. But I'm just saying, the majority of FA baw about HTTYD not winning, and most of them I bet it's just cause they want to fuck toothless. Not saying HTTYD was a bad movie, because I enjoyed it more, but it's no reason to BAW.
'Sides, TS3 was more emotional. I could say the exact same thing about TS3 that you /just/ said about HTTYD.
As much as I completely adore HTTYD I have to disagree. There's a few imperfections with it. Not to mention, the story was fairly generic and a couple things were..just..eh.
To me, Toy Story 3 was very deserving. A little more-so than HTTYD.
I wouldn't have been disappointed if it had won, certainly not.
Strange, considering I watch HTTYD so often. Heh.
I liked both films, but I'm glad TS3 won. That movie made me cry like a fucking baby at the end. HTTYD was a good movie and all, but I didn't feel the same connection with the characters as I did with Toy Story.
I did Really love both films ALOT! but i understand why and im ok with the fact that Toy story won.
side note Natalie Portman winning for Best Actress made me happy
TS3 deserved it, the reason why Pixars wins every year is due to the Quality of their films overall, at a level their competition cannot compare to, not because of rigging, or favoritism.
HTTYD was a very good 3D Animated movies, and it showed that if DreamWorks tries, they can produce something original and good, sadly though, Dreamworks for a long time when it comes to 3D films has had the reputation of being second rate to Pixar, and as great as HTTYD was, it still was no match from TS3.
Dreamworks tends to follow what many other studios do with 3D films, and produce unoriginal movies, with pop culture references, and sometimes immature humor (I.E the Shrek Series, Madagascar, among some examples) with average, weak, and badly written scripts for some of their 3D films, their track record for quality is what i feel hurt Dreamworks when i comes to 3d Animated films.
Pixar tends to be the most Quality 3D animation studio, and has produced mostly great 3D films, and that's not an easy feat.
They also don't have some liberties where Disney cannot boss them around about their products, and what they do, thus is why Disney has yet to water down Pixars Films, and ruin what makes them the company they are since the 90's.
What it boils down to also is critically, and blockbuster wise, Pixar beats Dreamworks drastically in both fronts.
And Toy Story 3 critically, and financially did better then How to train your pet dragon. (Although, fairly enough, they both were critical, and blockbuster hits when they came out) and the Oscars highly takes critical acclaim seriously probably the most among the factors for choosing the winners.
toy story 3 is indeed a good movie, and considering it was a Pixar production, it's an auto-win. But HTTYD was indeed a fantastic animated film for something not made by Disney.
Vested Interests, yes?

HTTYD. Y U NO WIN OSCAR?

Take some solace in that, since that so rarely happens when it comes to Dreamworks movies!
Just like the music awards.
LOL.
So I'm not gonna watch.
>.<;

People who appreciate animation however, will keep it in their collections for years to come :>
Just like all those great 2D dreamworks films that were drowned out by Disney movies
I personally preferred HTTYD over Toy Story 3 but, OH WELL
i was happy that aaron sorkin won though
