I say yes, you do. She didn't pay for a portrait as well so it's a little shitty for a crop to be made and used as one.

On the flip side, sometimes it's nice for folks to not have to pay for a full image and then a port if they happen to like the full image enough to use a cropped portion as a port as well. I dunno, I personally would be pissed if they didn't even ASK PERMISSION. Feels like cheating/stealing a bit.

All in all, you have a right to be upset about whatever upsets you (usually), if what happened urks you, definitely mention something to her. She might be kind enough to remove the port or commission you for one instead.

I mentioned it to her and I got a big nasty reply about it, claiming that I DID give her permission. I gave her permission to edit the imagine - not to create a portrait out of it. I have the logs.

IF she would have asked, I probably would have said it is fine but just like you said - she's cheating me out of the money I could have got for simply making her a portrait.

Yikes, I almost have a feeling who it might be.. though I'm prolly way off. Maybe I just have the misfortune of knowing a few asshats that would pull that kind of crap. Still, if she refuses to take it down I would make thread on FAZ about it OR you could even email Furc and they will remove it. Technically, although you sold her the design, you DIDN'T give rights for it to be used to make a port so that would prolly fall under stealing in their book. So you could have THEM remove it.

That's super shitty she did that. Some people are just ungrateful snots, it's a big reason I've more or less taken a pretty long hiatus from art. I'm sick of giving, giving, giving, and RARELY getting so much as a thank you from people.

I wrote an email to furcadia portraits and hopefully they will remove it.

What offended me the most was that she told me I did a half assed job on a piece of art that I was proud of and spend five hours on. Nothing more offensive than that.

WTF? Seriously, fuck her. That's super shitty. Not to butter you up but even stuff that you've done quickly comes out awesome, so yeah, ugh. Did she say that when you first gave it to her or only now that she got caught being a cheat?

She's said it plenty of times, though she deleted the post that said it on Deviantart. And then she said it again today, when I confronted her about uploading the portrait.

Sometimes I wish I could smash people's ungrateful faces against a desk. Ugh ugh ugh. Sorry to hear this is happening, I can only guess how frustrating/annoying it must be for your. All you can do now is try to reason with her though that doesn't seem very realistic, so I guess just wait until Furc gets a reply to you.
