We pen our fate to the parchment of time...
I don't usually use my journal for a lot of things outside of the furry world. Politics and social events are best saved for things like Twitter but this video absolutely stunned me.

I'm a UC (University of California) student myself. Though this girl is from UCLA, a sister campus, it made me laugh and then made my jaw hit the floor. I go to one of the most diverse campuses in the country and you never see something like this, or hear about it, and yet it seems to still exist. The UC system is supposed to admit the best and brightest of California and facilitate a liberal education in which tolerance and understanding are paramount. The years of Euro-centric dominance of the higher education belong to our parents. I just don't understand how someone who goes to such a very liberal school, in a very diverse region of the country, could be so close minded to another culture.
What really drove the nail home was the remarks about the tsunami event that just hit Japan. There is a thing at being annoyed at people who use their cell phones in the library. It's annoying. I understand. But tolerance and understanding, especially after a disaster that could impact an entire country seems like pretty basic knowledge and fundamental understanding of what it means to be a human being. We all have our pet peeves about just interacting with people. Mine is two slow people walking on a sidewalk and taking up the entire length of it. However, you don't classify such annoyances to a single race. Yes, maybe she witnessed a lot of Asian-Americans and transfer students using their cell phones during the tsunami event but if MY country got hit with a giant tidal wave right before a 9.0 earthquake (it was upgraded) I'd not give two shits about people around me if I was checking on those I love.
So yeah, my rant. Basically tolerance and understanding of other cultures is what the University should be preaching. Seems like UCLA failed in that area. And her mother.

Also, listening to her has lowered my IQ by at least a few points, I think.
Where was I going with this?
Unless the parents have enough money or the kid is a legacy, then they get in even if they're stupid, bigoted, airhead valley-girls.
legacy and money don't do much in the uc system. but being different does
