I've let Kavi know of the comments being made here, hopefully everything works out for everyone involved.

She also claimed that photos were uploaded from her computer without her knowledge. Keyloggers don't do that. She also claims that someone must've broke in and infected her computer, and they would have the opportunity because they supposedly leave their front door unlocked for 7 hours a day for her sister to get in when she comes home. This means two things:
1) Kavi's computer has either no password protection at all, or she left it on and unsecured, and
2) Nobody in her family has ever heard of this wonder of the 15th century, the spare key.

Would you mind pointing me to where she mentions claiming, "that photos were uploaded from her computer without her knowledge."? I'm very interested in additional details.

As to your mention of her second claim, wouldn't it be possible that she doesn't understand the concept that computers are most often infected through the internet?

Please refrain from making open accusations, especially while the official FurAffinity investigation is still underway and no decision rendered. If you have any questions or comments you specifically want passed along to her, I'd be happy to do so.

I don't know if someone has a screencap, but she rambled nonsensically about it on her SoFurry and Formspring accounts when confronted with the rather confusing evidence, and she's since deleted at least the SoFurry discussion, since it was on her pages.

She has no concept of what capabilities a hacker has. She has described things that at best are completely illogical for a hacker to do (like compromise all of her accounts for a full week but not make any effort to lock her out or hide their own tracks). Her own SoFurry account has a journal pleading for money because of her supposed disaster (that she now claims was perpetrated by hackers, possibly from 4chan).

If you view my journal, you'll find an open letter to her (that was deleted by her buddies on the SoFurry staff, I should add) that provides proof behind what I have to say. The facebook links don't work since she made her wall private so the mean furries would stop picking on innocent poor lil' ol' her, but I've screencapped the relevant things... such as this gem where she makes a point of giving her age as 14, four months ago.

This does provide some very solid evidence of her falsifying her age, which I'd like to thank you for taking the time to track down.

I will agree with about the complete illogical behavior of the hacker/s in question (if they exist). However I still can't rule out the possibility with 100% certainty...

That being said I still stand on the fact that until it can be proven otherwise I won't publicly confirm or deny the validity of the statement

Little info that's interesting to know, which makes this seem a bit more of a fallacy:

Adding a bank account to transfer funds to via your own paypal account takes more than a day. Paypal transfers money to your account (a few cents) and you verify the amount. Only after this, can you send money to your bank account. It usually takes about 2 - 3 business days.

How strange, that not only did this person transfer the money out of Kavi's account, but also verified the transaction with their own bank AND then verified it through paypal.

Luckily she'll have ALL of their banking information, should they have proceeded with a transfer. THEN she can EASILY proceed with FRAUD CLAIMS against the bank. I'm sure she'll need her mother's help and all.....

All this seems way to incredible sounding to me, if a hacker was going around using this as a scam, why don't we see more of this popping up on Facebook, MySpace, Other Accounts on FA? Why single Kavi out? Like most other people in this journal I'd like to see proof, time stamped pics, and whatever else that can be provided to substatiate her claims.

Otherwise it all seems like a convient excuse and a big cry for attention.

You'll notice that she claims to have been hacked, and that would potentially imply that the things stated in those journals (posted through kavi's accounts making claims about japan, her sister, and asking for donations) were very well, inaccurate and false.

However I whole heartedly agree that everyone needs to do their own research and come to conclusions based on what they find. I do ask however that people continue to monitor the situation and see whether things are set right or not.

What I'm confused about is how you claim she's 14 and tracing all her artwork when, through Resitution's contest, I've gotten three pieces to exact specification from her. Those wouldn't be tracings, since one of the characters was only from a basic written description and the other two were in positions that I haven't had on my pieces or examples.

Although, to be sure, the argument could be made that if she's a habitual liar, she could be just as easily lying about being 14. *Shrugs* I don't know. I'm not on anyone's side here since I only had that contact with her once.

She does have a picture submission on her FA account of her in "8th grade reading" that was uploaded in November 2010, though the picture is dated in May 2011, likely due to camera time setting error.

Her facebook wall has a long documented history of her interacting with schoolmates in what seems to be a fairly normal junior high/high school environment.

Which is more likely?
a) She created an entirely fake persona, cultivated over the last two or three years, all leading up to this epic trolling of furry along with an attempt to grab some quick cash through Paypal (which treats dispute claims seriously).
b) She's 14, saw a quick way to scam several hundred bucks for practically free from gullible furries, and now is trying to frantically lie her ass out of the fire because she's been figured out and didn't do anything to cover her tracks to support her alibi.

Someone on /furi/ pointed out that her "I got hacked" argument doesn't hold water because her precious submissions on Inkbunny/SoFurry/FA were left intact. Too important to be sacrified to keep up her alibi, but if her account was in fact compromised by a malicious actor, the first thing they'd do is raze the galleries to the ground.

If you want a completely honest answer, I'd say either one actually sounds plausible, given this day and age. It depends on how you take it, and I don't know because honestly, I'm not trying to follow this with the same zeal you and Shokuji seem to. I'm not defending her, I'm just chiming in with commentary.

And as an aside, I'd also take a little bit of umbrage with the way that you and others seem to be taking this as a lesson about gullibility. It's not like this sort of scam happens too often, even here. This one is the biggest I've heard of, and usually it's true that the people who are asking for help really ARE needing help. Just going about saying that people are gullible seems to be rubbing people in the face who are well meaning and just want to help others. It's terrible that this has happened, especially the possibility that the March 11 tsunami is being used this way, but I know I'd rather try to help someone and get burned instead of just refusing to help anyone at all.

Reversals from fraudulent banks are logged and are listed as "Reversals". Paypal is also tracking her outgoing payments. Why is there information missing about her money being sent to another bank? Why is it not being listed? It should be listed. Where is it?

The shit hit the fan on the 17th when she made that journal, where has all this missing crucial information gone?

The only possible excuse that she can give is that it happened earlier than the 15th than what the recent activities show, and that's impossible. Kavi had full control over her account from the 16th because she made a journal on FA in regards to Streaming. Suddenly she says she was able to reclaim all of her accounts on the 19th/20th. If her lies are to be believed, that would imply that the hacker had access to all of her accounts ever since as earliest as two weeks ago, because it takes a number of days for Paypal to set up other banks and paypal does not work on the weekends. In which case she should have been aware that there was activity being done not by her hand through paypal through emails, as Paypal will notify you about EVERYTHING.

There is no possible way that she could not have known in that time under any circumstance, therefore the 'hacker' could have only done this recently, and that's impossible; for them to have sent the money to their bank, paypal to reclaim her money in the span of 4 fucking days, weekends included, that's bullshit.

Her Paypal screenshot instead shows that it was business as usual. I especially lolled at the fact she has an account on ShareCash, you know, that site where you can distribute files for money? The fucking deceit stinks of raw fish and she is playing you like a violin. How can you continue to be on her side despite these blatant lies?

Not all of the money in her Paypal account got dropped into this "mystery" (i.e., hers) bank account, so she refunded (and it looks like Paypal manually reversed a few) what she could and is transferring the rest back (she says Paypal is reversing the transaction, her screenshot says she's doing it herself) to clear it up.

Ahh, so bank robbers break into her bank and just steal some from the vault. To come back tomorrow night to get more because, no one noticed the dynamited open vault. And were also generous to go ahead and deposit some it to her bank account for her.

no custom software -- She claims the hardware magically makes the mouse fake pressure sensitivity. Yet, all of this would be handled in the driver. The mouse is a dumb input device. All it knows is whether it is moving, and if it's moving, how fast and in what lateral direction. It passes this telemetry data on to the device driver, and the driver interprets this into mouse pointer movement to the OS and lets it handle it from there.

With the right software, you could set up a Wiimote to have fake pressure sensitivity. But nope, not her. The custom mouse does it all without any software mods at all. So, she can afford custom-made super mice, but not a tablet because she's poor?

I should add that she claims her dad made it. Which is possible. However, she also claims that the possible way she might have "gotten hacked" is because her family leaves the front door unlocked for 7 hours at a time for her sister to get in the house when she comes home from school. Dad makes super mice but has never heard of a spare key.

First is just a part of Windows' system register. Second and third one have same really clear error: SoFurry doesn't use HTTPS.

Why would a hacker post the codes publicly in the first place? Wow. XD And reading through some of the codes, I can tell its copy pasta from that zend site you linked, with minor changes. Wow.

KIDS REMEMBER

It takes more than an hour to get funds out of paypal into a bank account. Even if some magical hacker that someone also took her ip address on top of everything else did manage to do this, there is NO WAY they got the money out of the account as fast as she is claiming.

Hopefully someone reported her to PayPal. Since she is only 14 years old PayPal will most likely take legal actions against her for using their service, especially since she committed fraud.
