FWA 2011: Post-Con Wrap-Up
Another awesome weekend has come and gone, and I should say this has gone well for me than I have in the last few years during this convention. Having to avoid the temptation of sitting in the artist alley for the majority of my time, I was able to spend more time rolling around panels and hanging out with some old and new friends. So let's see how it all went down...
-Thursday-
I took
sci_the_cheetah along with me for the ride as we rode north to Atlanta. We were able to make it in time to roll around for a few hours in the afternoon and see the Opening Ceremonies. Not much could be done then, but I was able to deliver a badge or two in the process, and even had some time for some nyuck moments. I even got one of the last FWA liquor flasks as a souvenir, and it would later become helpful for mixing some Airborne into. A night worth popping in early before heading over to my meersis,
java_meerkat's place for the whole weekend.
-Friday-
This is the first of the several days I would have more time paneling. The Old School Game-Off was a challenge with two other furries at a scoring competition on Galaga and Missile Command... and I was surprised to see I won both of those, so I got a free T-shirt. Got to learn the History of Fandom in the next panel, watched
Mangusu put on a hilariously fun Furry Dating Show, and spent all the time in between rolling around and waiting for my awesome Pony badge I commissioned from
kabukihomewood when it would actually take more time for it to be finished.
-Saturday-
Here's where things got tricky, because panels I wanted to go to have slots that are at the same time of each other, so I had to bounce around between Digital Coloring and Lighting, Tooning and the Improv Comedy panel. For the ladder, I took the liberty of changing into my Tommy Wiseau outfit just to give them an unexpected chuckle and a moment to sit next to them in front of the audience, demonstrating the idea of staying in character before we got into some fun exercises. Of course, had the Fursuit Parade, and I'm sure you'd see me right next to Java in one of the YouTube videos if you searched it. During lunch, I thought I'd take a break and walk straight to the World of Coca Cola in town, which was what I wanted to visit last year... but DAMN! The line was so f*cking long! I had to pass and walk straight back to the hotel. At least it gave me two hours of sunshine and exercise that I am sure a lot of us needed during the weekend. :P Anywho, I was able to sit down in the artist alley for a little bit and get some work done, while a G4 TV camera happened to have buzzed by our line of tables... o.O" Aparently they were recording for one of their shows. I will be looking forward to THIS. Later on in the night, I had the chance to hang out with
princessrei and
odin36519 after several passings and brief moments of saying hi. We went to the bar at the hotel and had some drinks, then went to the Fursuit Dance Competition, where I wasn't aware of it, but the real fun was getting on the DS' Pictochat and finding as much as 8 peeps on one chat room. Overall, this day was probably the best.
-Sunday-
The last day... better make it worth my while. I got my pony badge, and I love it to death. "Wiseau" went to Uncle Kage's Story Hour, and too bad for him that Georgia's liquor stores are closed to sell him wine... poor dude... :P The Furry Olympics was a beast, and the team consisted of myself,
and others. One of them messed up my neck for a short while... 8 fursuiters running towards the middle of a dance floor for a pick at one of 5 pool noodles in the middle... I can swear if someone video taped that scene, someone would have the common courtesy to add in the sound effect of a bowling ball hitting a Strike in a bowling alley. Boom! Didn't win, but had fun nonetheless. After a little running around and hanging out, then came Furries Got Talent!?!, followed by the Closing Ceremonies, where beforehand a little awesomeness happened while listening to the music...

I had a blast, and a big shoutout to all my friends that I was able to bump into this year. I had a great time, and I hope to see you all next year! :)
There'll be a collection of posts of all there is to share from this year's event coming up soon, so keep your eyes to the gallery for the updates that are to follow.
