I swear I'm my own worst enemy artistically. >_>

So I have this comics Acts of War, right. Well, the OTHER main character (not the damn border collie that I keep drawing) is a female Doberman pinscher. AND I CAN'T DRAW DOBES TO SAVE MY LIFE. T__T On top of that, they're EXTREMELY hard to make look feminine (look at em--they're so boxy and angular and muscular that it just doesn't work on a female anthro without stylizing them way more than I'm comfortable with, considering my style). Have considered changing her "breed," but it fits her personality and occupation too well.

Seriously, my inability to draw THE MAIN CHARACTER consistently because of her BREED TYPE is the primary reason I'm not churning this thing out faster. RARGH.

Not the first time I've sabotaged myself this way. I CAN'T DRAW OTTERS, AND MY FURSONA IS AN OTTER. WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF. X_X

I'm making everything into a wolf forever. Fuck this noise. D:

sorry if it was a bad vision. She is scary to the max. But not knowing your characters attitude actions description the first thing I thought of when I thought female dobie......was her.

While muscular, Dobermans are very lean. I would think that is ideal for a more feminine but still strong build. Muscular doesn't have to be WWE material, after all. I think it kinda forces a person to learn, it can be very very annoying, but it'll force you to draw something out of necessity, so just keep at it :D

For some reason my mind keeps thinking butch dyke for a dobie chick. One of those no-BS types who you know you don't wanna get in a fight with just by looking at.

And on water-weasels, it ain't just you. The face is a colossal pain to get right for some reason (all mustelids really, but otters take it to a whole new level), but you do pull it off surprisingly well. ^_^

Focus on the slender, graceful neck - also a dobe trait - the soft, heavily lidded eyes, and the long, lean limbs. Also consider the way they move, in the show ring or elsewhere - powerful and driven, yes, but also perfectly balanced and with a light, dance-like spring in their steps. They embody a perfect balance between strength and grace, like horses.

Dobies may be butch, but they're very *pretty* butches. :P

when i think of Doberman females. I sort of think of one of the women from the American Gladiator series on television, or more basic would be one of the girls that competes in track and field and throws the hammer. a lot of body strength and even a bit macho, but their still is a bit of feminine look to them in the face and hips , and of course the bust. just throwing something out there to see if that helps any. plus you can do a lot with just the way you draw the eyes. *shrugs*

i can sympathise with the hating of drawing otters. i made the mistake of using otters as my animal for my animal assignment a few years ago. never, ever try to draw a 30 minute extended life drawing of an otter XD

If you ask me, you should trust the opinions of others. Most -if not all- artists are very self-critical and most of their opinions of their art is not what others, such as their fans, think.
