Some peeps are taking this little bit too seriusly, sure theres some hyper active fans but really its just one char in a video game XD
Im pretty neutral around him, not gonna use him much but i like his theme song :3

Then again... never played before / didn't know about the game before.
But yeah, some people are getting way too excited or pissed about his inclusion. The only thing that makes it really significant is that Nintendo's letting in some other characters that are 3rd party. Who knows, by the next Smash Bros game, it might have even more of the big gaming mascots and icons, regardless of platform.
Who knows. Stranger things have happened. Like Sonic being included in two (let's not forget the Olympics game) Nintendo titles.
I think Megaman has a much better spot to be on Brawl than he did.

He would have his sliding move
He special smashes would be weapons from Bosses of the MM games.
And his final smash would be like his super upgrades from the X series which increases his attack power and defense for a short period of time.
Thats my 2 cents.
Id doubt they make him a Samus clone.
but if they did put him in it would be the MM.exe and MM-Zero versions of the characters with their origional costumes as alternates (cause let's face it if X is in Zero will be, and i bet that blond git from MGS2 will be there too).

If anything it's just a little sad to see such an oldschool non-nintendo mascot get drawn in. Back in the day he was fighting the power, now he has been sold to the conglomerate machine.
