Hibbary on dA or here has done some awesome animated Icons. Maybe you could ask her. I think she's more on dA than here.

GIMP lets you make animated GIFs, you just make one layer per frame, and you can preview the animation, change the speed, stuff like that. I'm sure there are better programs out there, but it's not bad for a free program :3

Really? I didn't know GIMP did that. I had a program a long time ago that was very basic and let you change all the delays in each frame individually.

You can tell it to do delays of particular lengths for each frame if you want. Upon looking at the layers for an animated GIF that you load up in it, the layer names will have stuff like (50ms) at the end. Changing that value will change the delay time :3

If you have Photoshop, you already have one. The one I use for animated files is ImageReady. It installs with Photoshop.

All I need is each individual picture frame and I can put it all together.

If you have Photoshop CS (1+) then you also have the program ImageReady, which can do animated gifs in much the same way that GIMP does. You just need to create the layers, then you can create frames in the animation, and turn layers on and off for the animation.

Photoshop 7 should have it too <3 not just CS

If you're still looking or need help, google "Microsoft GIF Animator" for free easy-to-use software, or note me. I've got a few animation programs, including the new Adobe Flash CS3, and can get you a copy of it. (arr, matey... <.< ) Lots of ways to go about it!

And as the above poster said, if you need a hand, just draw/color the main animated frames one by one, and I too could put it together for you quite easily. Animation is fun.

Imageready is a good program for that. :D
