If you did want to go with a rare blood type, then you should make one of them AB Neg, only 1-2% of the population is that type, if I recall correctly. Of course, in reality, we would try to matche the exact blood type of the recipient, so you would probably be better off having them as the same type if you wanted one to be believably able to donate to the other. Sorry, I didn't know that when I made my comment.
