Virus attack

Hey guys,
So my art computer has gotten a bad virus. Currently I can't open any programs and have no access to any of my artwork, pictures or music. Hopefully I can save everything. I am sending my computer to my dad to fix and if anyone can fix it he can. But until then don't expect to see any art from me.
Commissioners you patience is very much appreciated, with a bit if luck I'll be able to save all my half finished commissions >.>

I didn't get a BEX error, the virus comes with a bunch of annoying pop-ups pretending to be anti-virus software >.>
Most of my personal experiences with it have been through Google Images, I managed to get a few of the infected hosts that kept bugging me shut down by contacting the hosting companies of said sites but 99% of people don't know how to do that. Best preventative thing to do is update your browser, Java Runtime and Adobe Flash Player to their latest versions and exit the browser if the pops up start occurring whilst surfing, unfortunately it sounds like it's already too late for you. Let's hope the malware's purpose isn't also identify theft, trying to find credit card numbers of user account details for your banking, PayPal etc.
I do a lot of... downloading... and I learned through necessity over the years, what works and what simply doesn't.
If you don't consider yourself tech-savvy, I would suggest a combo of No Script, Ad Blocker Plus (fanboy's list), Avast, and Malwarebytes. No Script will automatically prevent java scripting, Adblock will prevent outsourcing, Avast scans downloads automatically, and Malwarebytes has an auto-scan function as well. You never want to use just one type of anti-virus, there's a lot of malware out there that's written specifically to bypass the big boys such as Norton.
If you have some tech savvy however; The safest way to do anything online is running a virtual machine monitor or hypervisor. It takes a bit more processing power but it's literally impossible to infect.
