i'm having ipod issues and i need help...
it was working fine this morning and it's been working fine since i got it. It's the old ipod video, before classic, 30gb. I dont know how old it was prior to when i got it because it was given to me by my dads gf.
so yeah. working fine this morning. died at lunch, so i just got home now, i go to connect it to my computer to charge and it starts making these really loud clicking/grinding noises.
i checked tech support on apple's website and they said i need to force it into ''disk mode'' on my computer and restore it.
THING IS. they said it needs to be charged to do that.....YEAH ITS DEAD AND WONT CHARGE CUZ IT KEEPS CLICKING.
WTF?

o.o sounds like the hard drive inside is freaking out. Did it get dropped? Was it hit in any way? Anything out of the ordinary happen with it today before that happened?

OP
I dropped it honestly about 6-7 months ago. It's been a long time.

Do you just have the USB cable to the computer or do you also have the power adapter for it to. If you do try plugging it into the wall and see if that will get it to charge. But it seems like it could be a hard drive crash. You might want to take it to a Apple store and see if they can get it fixed for you.
