Here's the deal - for my second 2d animation assignment I'm planning on animating a traditional samurai showdown type scene. The winning character will be Inu from my comic 
zodiacbattle, but I don't necessarily want to create yet another character just for this assignment only to ignore him after it's done. (poor Kitan from last year's animation assignment) Anyway, I decided to open the floor to my lovely watchers if they are so inclined.
Please keep in mind that if my lecturer asks me to scrap the idea, or I decide to do something else, this might not happen at all and is completely up to my discretion. You'll be getting this for free after all, so no complaining. :P

1. Needs to be a male character.
2. Needs to be a recognisable animal; that means no hybrids, no unnatural appendages, etc. (wings, tentacles, what have you) Acceptable are cats/big cats, dragons, and dogs. I will consider others as long as they are not a hybrid.
3. Cannot have overly complex markings or absurd colour schemes. Preferably one colour used on the whole body.
4. Cannot be an overly muscular character, feminine or overtly sexual character.
5. I will be dressing this character in a traditional Japanese samurai outfit - ie. gi, haori and hakama - and he will be using a single katana. Clothing references are not needed and I will not take into account what the character wears normally.
If you're still interested in submitting your character, leave a comment in this post AND ONLY THIS POST with visual references and a brief personality description of your character. I will not accept any characters with only a written description. If you post a link to your character in another journal, in a shout, or send it to me in a note, IT WILL BE IGNORED.

a fairly calm and kind person yet very protective of those he cares about
You can change the dyed stripes on his tail to be a regular color, if you'd like. His body's a fairly average build.

My only option, if you will accept it, would probably be this character; My Nameless Ferret: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4155458/ the only colors to know about him is different shades of gray in fur and silver gray eyes besides his black paws, ears and tail tip as for his personality is mostly keeping to himself and always keeping his guard up even when at home in case of any attacks from anywhere.

Personality: Usually very kind, and calm preferring not to fight, but will fight if it means protecting those he cares or loves, Prefers not to kill his opponents unless absolutely necessary.

Always optimistic and usually helps people, though sometimes he does not think it through while doing something.
Always calm and cool when not in in a fight, yet aggressive towards hostiles but does not underestimate his enemy. Always goes by a code of honor.

is a freelancer in my world and is a very capable swordsmen, has perfected many sword arts with a Nodachi and variouse other katana styles.

His name is Lenoh and he's an Egyptian Mau.
He's wary of new people, but get to know him and he'll be loyal forever.
You can ignore the Horus eye markings if needed, and the collar doesn't need to be there. But yes, the green eyes are required :P
or my Andybear fursona. a True Gentalmen, respectful, kind, Papa bear, generouse, the kind of guy you want on yer team cause he takes more hits then he delivers, he's nice up until someone attemtps to harm him or his friends then he beats that person to a pulp, not much of a sword user, Boxer wrestler type, but i can see him useing a sword if only to fullfill an animateing project.
His general mindset is easy-going and generally cheery, while on the battlefield he wipes all emotion and focuses solely on making the killing blow at soon as the opportunity opens. His general fighting style revolves around dodging and parrying til making or finding a break in the opponents guard.
Wouldn't mind entering myself! ^^
His name is Rikyuu, as you can see, and he's a dragon.
Rikyuu is usually of the cheerful, friend-making attitude, however when the time comes, his attitude can easily change to a more serious vibe. Rikyuu is a bit of a wanderer and explorer and he loves to see new places and new people! A negative trait of his that would be relevant to the situation is that if he starts losing/dying, he'll start to panic and become significantly less aggressive in a fight, but he does his best to hang in there.
As a side note, I'm willing to compromise his wings if they get in the way.
Generally very shy, But will stand up for what he believes in. Does not like to fight but will if it comes to it. Has studied Iaido (this one is true of myself) The traditional art of drawing the sword and making the cut all in one motion as well as me being able to fight on any terrain.

Personality: cynical at times, all around caring though. 'sometimes the ends justify the means'
Often plotting/manipulative, mostly for the good of others or sometimes for revenge or justice for him or others. Willing to help others just to help out, not necessarily looking for or expecting a reward. Warped sense of humor, always able to find something good or funny in a situation. Willing to get others back for hurting someone he knows/cares about with sometimes long somewhat involved plans.
Generally a good conscience, but sometimes willing to take advantage of a fool. Willing to go to extremes for a (sometimes dangerous)prank.
