I have a PS3 (although the drive just burned out... again...) but I absolutely hate Sony. Still, this sucks more for the people trying to play then anyone.

It isn't Anonymous itself that's doing anymore but a splinter group that's keep up the fight.

More then likely the Anonymous splinter group using DDoS attacks in order to disrupt the PSN as for why here's how it all start, awhile back Sony decided to go after a well-known PS3 modder which is what got Anonymous attention because they saw what Sony was doing as a offense against the First Amendment and decided to take action by attacking the PSN in order to hurt Sony even though Sony came to an agreement with the modder but as always Anonymous lost interest and now it's just a splinter group that's trying to keep up the fight.

Best argument for games not requiring constant online access.

Actually I hadn't even noticed because I was playing xbox this week, but I would be upset if I had a game that needs to so-called "verify trophies online" before it starts.

Seeing as I haven't been playing my PS3 the past few days, (it's currently doing the folding@home app while I'm not using it,) I didn't even realize that the PSN was down....

Sucks for people trying to play just about any PS3 game....

I am very annoyed at that hacker group.
I am just about close to completing Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's singleplayer mode and I want to test the multiplayer.

But I actually just read on the PlayStation forum that this isn't an hacker attack but rather that the servers went down and Sony has to do a major upgrading of them, which can take a few days.

And people actually say that the hacker group cancelled their planned attack on Sony's servers.

Isn't the service more or less free? Yeah you have to buy the ps3 and all but with out one not much point to being on the network.

and thats why the service is craptastic the fees people pay to MS keep xbox live stable and reliable
