I'm holding out hope, too. I don't need to support myself, so it's not the end of the world if there's nothing out there for me. Not having any income sucks hard, though.

Good Luck! When I was applying for jobs in high school, I had luck with McDonald's, so maybe you will too! Also, is there a UPS near you? You could also try applying there if so.

I wouldn't mind McDonald's at all, really. I've heard that it actually looks good on your resume if you can hold that job without getting fired because they're all run fairly strictly. I'm not sure if we have a UPS; if we do it it's either downtown, or in the neighboring beach town, and I don't want that drive. Everything I applied to is 5 minutes max from my house.

Wow, close proximity! I lived out in the country, so any jobs were at least 15 minutes away by driving. As for the strictness, that all depends on the managers/trainers who work at the place you'll work at. The people I worked with were fairly lax; the only time I got in trouble was when I was really stupid, like didn't pay attention to how well cooked the meat was and gave the sandwich makers undercooked meat (who noticed the meat was undercooked and didn't serve it). Other people who worked there were far worse and didn't get fired; there was one guy I worked with who was nothing but a liability considering how many times he hurt himself. For example, he'd grab cookie trays out of the oven without gloves on, grab the Teflon sheets on the tops of the cooking presses without gloves on, clean the grills without gloves on, pour molten lard on his foot, and once got a face full of steam/smoke while he was doing something on the roof of the building.

Wow... well, I won't have to worry about a lot of that, because the McDonald's I applied to specifically said that it was a cashier's job.

Still, though, I'm hoping for Target more than any of the others because it would mostly likely be an overnight stocking job, and that would pay above minimum wage.
