She was a single char, only thing I paid for is the actual fur pattern and marking, but for 25 bucks...I stay away from auction adoptables though, not a big spender, and 200usd can be used for something far far more important.

The main reason I do auctions is because I really have no idea what to price things at so i let people do that for me hopefully without making me look like an asshole..

while it may look fair, it does disclude folks as again, not everyone can spend 200usd, and often those that spend that kind of money is complaining about not having money the next day or week.

One would think after one of them highrollers got their art from me they would move along to another artist and give other people a chance. i dont really like drawing the same person over and over again either so... idk

not exactly, the highrollers stick with the same few upper artist all the time. Then again my clan researched that actually some actually use a credit card to buy art

I honestly think its a good idea, plus, I think it would be nice in a way, to see a character you created the design of, develop in a way. As for money, people might dislike me for my opinion on this, but, even if it goes to $200 I still think that is fair, its an auction for something unique, and its kinda the persons decision on how to spend their money. I know I have paid more than that for a commission or two before^^

I say if someone wants to buy a character you make, more power to you. It would be different if they had an idea for a character and you drew it up for them. I think it strange to buy up a character fir yourself just to have rights to it or call it your persona.

I'd say go for it if you didn't want to keep it for yourself, but one other thought crosses ny mind. If you make up all these characters and cretures and sell them off, it might be hard to think of new ones for yourself later on.

Thats a good point. but honestly im not the type who has a bunch of different characters. i have Razr... nd thats it... id make maybe 1 other 2 if im lucky but any more than that id just forget about. MY problem would be making something i REALLY like and then it would be kinda hard to sell off and if i do i might end up seeing it doing things i wouldnt ever want it to do .. but eh thats business.

I know exactly what you mean. I have only Nerian, that's me, that's who I am and that's all I need. As an animator though i have characters for stories and such but I see that in a different light

It seems to get people money, which is good. I, personally, don't like them. I've grown sick and jaded of the manufactured art mill that the furry fandom has become. I understand in these times a lot of artists do it to make ends meet, and a lot of buyers like it because it gives them a thrill with what little cash they get to spend (assuming they're spending responsibly anyway) and we all have to make our money stretch, but I just hate the overall atmosphere and quality it creates.

In contrast, I'm not buying art, I haven't bought furry art in a long time, and probably won't for a long time yet--not just because of the above opinion, but also because what I've come to expect through doing my own work, and working with other people, costs a lot, and I won't have money to dish out on that soon or often even when I do, so there's the grain of salt.

Going to basically say the same as did with another adoptables, Funny thing about adoptables, for a long time never really saw a point in them, like some say, they do seem to be the same but for a few changes, simple changes that seem little effort and cookie cut, but then looked at them differently, which is why I had bought one once. All my characters I've created are basically alone, they have no siblings or anyone that isn't, basically, me. So I looked at it in the way of adopting a cat in real world, it's a cat, like every other cat, but it's my cat, my creature to nurture and develop. And what is best about it, is that this child may also have brothers or sisters who might like to know them, interesting possibilities, it might be the same or similar to another, but you also buying the rights to the character, it is yours, no one, even the artist can reproduce, print or profit from it, and in most cases it's a lot cheaper then buying a personalized character sheet, which really in the end is personalized.

Basically, opinions of others, you never really get a good answer, you can try it, if people want to pay for it, they will, and you succeed, those that don't like it, stiff shit, you make some money, you improve your ideas, you get images out and willing to experiment and learn. Just don't feel too bad if you not get takers to the sale.. after all, you can always sell on a fur art auction, those people spend crazy

I don't really get the point, I even think it's kind of a scam.... I understand that ideas (and by extention charcters) have value, but paying for a furry character someone just made up solely to be sold just feels unethical and preying on certain members of the fandom. Of course people can spend their money however they want, I am merely advocating for frugal financial mamagment. I certainly won't buy any adoptables.

eh i dunno, i never liked adoptables. I Kinda frown upon people who buy them.
It's like cmon really, your fursona is supposed to be something unique from your own personality, based off of yourself, even if its a complete opposite of yourself, or even just something you made up! point is its supposed to come from YOU.
Buying a premade fursona just makes you seem really unoriginal. Nothing against the people that make them, I just don't understand why someone would buy one... unless they really have no imagination.

I agree there.. but i think the people who buy them usually dont get them for their actual FURSONA but some alt character they may use for art or stories or something

I came to the conclusion that while I think its a lazy way to sell art in an uncreative way
Its a cash crop that people buy into, so its more of a, "Why not" situation

Well i mean... i dont think its lazy, because im not using any templates or anything. its all totally original but its just ... i made a character on my terms however i wanted to make him and then throw it out there and asks "Who likes this and wants it?" so its almost like i commission myself haha. I think id only do it for a last resort in dire need of money anyway not a usual thing

I'll be honest since you asked - I think the whole general idea of adoptables is a scam and it's like an artist is selling out when they do them. But hell, if people buy them, you can make quite a bit of money! I wouldn't touch them though.

Sure go for it. It's an original character that you created and I have to say that really looks amazingly awesome dude. Add something to cover up the random dick (lol) but not too much and you've got a strong, hunky naga. :)

For me it's not about the money, but it ruins the creative flair an individual might possess, so I am highly against it personally.

However whatever your choice is I'll support you, it's the buyers fault for not really showing the world their hidden creative potential. Just look deep inside and ask if this is really the right thing to do. If you really need the money then it might be beneficial.
