Expanding my horizons as a writer
So, obviously, I've got a pretty solid grasp on the kinds of writing I do; mostly modern day fiction, dealing with the lives of my characters, sometimes with minor conflict but mostly taking the 'slice of life' approach. I intend to keep this as my main style of writing, and to that, consider Niveus my pinnacle creation for that style. But... I've been feeling a bit dissatisfied with Afon's character despite how much I love her basic concept, so I've decided to take a new approach and, with her story, step out of my comfort range.
Now, I know, I posted her character sheet as a 'modern day' female, but I'll be taking that down shortly. Rather than having her as a modern woman, I instead am considering making her story into a historical fiction. Make her Celtic, develop a situation for her, and make her story something closer to a legend or local myth. Suffice to say... if I decide to go through with this, it's going to be difficult for me. But I love the concept. As an added plus... I can't help it, the potential character art that I could commission of her as a Celtic woman make me swoon a little.
Anyways... I'm thinking of making her kind of the princess moonlighting as a brawler. So on the one hand... silks, fine dresses, jewelry, womanly things. on the other, scruffy outfits, flamboyancy, and hand gloves (I just had a heart attack of joy inside saying that...). The whole 'two sides of a life' thing... Who knows, it may just be a local legend of the brawler princess, or it may develop into an epic of her life, starting as the brawler, and eventually becoming a hero and legend. We'll see.

Doing such a character you will be tested in one of the hardest archtype forms in rhetoric. It is a respectable thing leaving ones writing comfort zone. I am trying such with Project Alice and it is a rather taxing experience. Celtic culture is a hard one as well since much was lost in both Roman and Saxon/British occupancy. It gives us archeologists a run for our money. Still, it is a fun and rarley used setting wich can use some correct lime light. Good luck.
