I can't believe people would attempt to do such a thing to a fallen soldier, way to go Mississippi, you guys rule. About time people like that got their asses handed to them.

Sorry but I just don't understand why the protesters protest? Why harass the family members and serving personnel because the protesters believe the war is wrong? They should show respect to those who are putting their lives on the line.
Sorry about ranting, Dad was in the military, sort of has a personal thing.

basically because they can, they're hiding behind their church, which is nothing but several families, who are all into the legal side of things, and using the constitutional right to their advantage when people try to tell them to step off or try to sue them. I'm a Former soldier myself, and I can't stand these westboro nutjobs.

They are very delusional and have lost all touch with reality. They are brainwashed into their religion where they do not think because that would be sinful. They think that bad things happen because of homosexuals and that we should have a government based on christianity.

People will hate on anything.

I could hate on them for a multitude of reasons, but instead I prefer to keep my own beliefs to myself.

Yeah so I don't agree with the war, but I still stand behind every soldier who is willing to defend someone else who they don't even know.

THis is so awesome. Better or on par with the hells angels gang who just happened to be passing though a town and personally blacked off the area with their bikes and proceed to reff their engines Evey time the protesters opened their mouths.

I support god, not people behind him. But this has made me smile. Go mississippi! It's just fucked up to even try and kick a dead soldier's name into the ground. They fought and died for this country...

I'm gonna catch heat for this, but there are a couple things about the situation that bother me.

First, a physical beating was unnecessary if it was ONLY because the person was affiliated with WBC. If he got into a verbal altercation and had a one-on-one fight, that's another story, but any witnesses present are cowards for now identifying those involved. A crime is still a crime, even if it's perpetrated against a monster.

Second, police pulling them aside and detaining them during the funeral may be legal, but it is a clear and obvious violation of the spirit of the laws which allow them to do so. Doing this makes them no better than the police who "looked the other way" when the mob reigned.

Those factors aside, I'm entirely in favor of local services refusing to come to their aid. If trucks block them in and no tow company will bother moving them, so be it. If they catch a flat tire and no company in town will replace them, so be it. Let these clowns figure out how to limp their vehicles back home.

I swear if I go to a funeral for a fellow soldier and someone comes up to protest or talk shit about that soldier...

this is awesome! i mean, not really to take out physical violence on another person, but i know how they feel. i have lots of family members in the army. im not for the war but do believe in supporting people who are leaving their families behind and putting their lives on the line.

but that aside, whether or not you agree to what the person was/did in their life, its wrong to interupt and harrass a family when they are trying to mourn a loved one lost. Its just not right and these dreadful people call themselves christians...so yeah i can see where these people come from when they beat up these protesters.

About damn time someone stood up for the Soldiers that defend these nutjobs freedoms.

I wish WBC would stop calling themselves Christians. Props to the guys who blocked them. I can't say that fighting with them was the right thing to do, but I also can't say I would've stopped the fight.
