Quitting...

Hey everyone! Em here!
I've actually got a question for you guys.
So I've had a job for a while now and it's been okay. I'm supposed to work part time, but they've been making me work full time. I've talked to them about dropping my hours, and they have for the most part, but when I was hired I told them about how I don't have the best immune system and as such i get ill easily.
I've been working for about 3 months or 4 months now and I've only missed 4 days due to being sick, yet they are threatening to fire me due to me not showing up due to being sick.
I understand their point of view. that's a lot of sick days, but I really can't help it. I do take my medicine and do my best to eat healthy so that I can go to work and get paid. I give them ample time in the day before I go in to let them have a few hours to get someone to replace me for the day.
So my question to you FA is do you think I should quit? I've been thinking about it for several weeks now because not only the issue with the bing sick, but there are so many kids there that don't do their job and they don't even get so much as a talking about it. Our managers are NEVER there and they don't leave their numbers in case we need them and over all it's a terrible experience, but I really need money and I'd love to just do commissions for extra cash.
Speaking of which, does anyone know if I have to pay taxes on commission money?
What's your guys' input?

FA+

I'm the same way I'm very sickly and miss alot of work aswell
It's tough but unless you get your managers to understand there isn't much to do
Also you only have to pay in taxes for commissions if you bring in alot of money from them
Or atleast that's what I've heard
The main problem with that is that the managers are never really there. Like, I'll maybe see them once or twice a month, and that's the assistant managers, we don't even have a real manager because all of a sudden she just retired. Not giving any of us a heads up at all.
I'll try adn talk with them about it though. I just don't want to end up getting fired when I could save a bit of face and quit so I don't has as much problems with my next job.
And yup, you do need to pay taxes once you start making livable money off of commissions. It's considered an 'at-home' business and the IRS looks at it the same way it would as if you're working a 'normal' job and not paying your taxes.
Ah, okay. Thanks for clearing that up for me! I've been terrified that I'd have to pay taxes on the commissions I've already done, but I don't think I've made more than $300 on them yet.
Good luck to you too.
I really respect writers, so jealous.
Hopefully you can make a life/career of it. :3
Ah, grass is always greener, eh? I feel the same way towards artists. =P I have a lot of pretty awesome images in my head, but my hands get a case of teh st00pid when I go to draw anything. It gets daunting and then I need to hire someone and describe those awesome images if they ever want to see daylight.
Good luck though! Hopefully you can make a great career out of your writing!
My advice is to stick it out a little longer, try to talk to your managers about these problems and if it doesn't work out.. Well, if you are considering to quit your job, AT LEAST be searching for new work when your aren't working, you know... A Job to fall back on sort of speak.
The biggest problem though would be getting in contact with a manager, but I'll definitely try. Thanks for the encouragement :'3
