No sir, didn't like it.
As a parrot aficionado, I watched the movie expecting to like it. Hell, I tried to like it, but the writing kept falling short of what I was expecting. Sure, the humor was spot on a few times, but the awkward dialogue and really irritating characters dragged the movie down. The villains ranged from being complete dumbasses to just irritable. Seriously, within the first couple of lines of his dialogue, the main villain bird broke out into a rap song about how he's such a psychotic badass.
However, there are some things that Rio did very well. The character designs and backgrounds were excellent, and the animation was fluid and very detailed. The only thing I could find that bothered me was that every fat guy in the movie had almost the same face. That might just be me though.
(I just want to bump off the old journal about my dead Tumblr account I haven't had the time to set aside for. I typed up a review for Rango too but wound up losing it to the internet aether. I didn't feel like typing it out again. In a nutshell, Rango was really good, but I'm more than willing to say why if anybody wants me to explain about it further.)

Hrm... Well, I guess I won't watch it. Something about it was putting me off.
OH, AND I COULD DO A RANGO REVIEW, but uhh yeah, I'd have to watch the entire thing again.
Or a couple of times.
Although the character designs seemed a bit weird at first, I eventually grew to like them over the course of the movie. The amount of details put into the movie was immense, to say the least. The art direction was stunning.
The only con I found with this movie was the couple of instances where Rango was dreaming. Those felt like I somehow wound up into a indie film festival for college students who wanted to cram in a ton of metaphors to give the film some deep meaning. I can understand the point of the dreams in the movie, but they just seemed extremely surreal just for the sake of surrealism. However, that con is extremely minor, and I wouldn't mind seeing the movie again.
