It's not going to change the fact that all of Canada is able to have same-sex marriages, right? As long as Canada still has that going for them, it's still a more attractive option for living than the US, who can't seem to make up their mind about the issue.

some one on facebook called me an idiot because I compared Harper to Hitler (it was a joke) - I am aware that gay marriage and abortion are still legal, but I was reading he was trying to ban these because he's more of a family value oriented sort, I also read about possibly increasing internet activity spying and security, tightening drug laws, like he specifically wanted to have the minimum charges for making pot brownies 18 months in prison, thats just silly! He/his government also wanted to increase the number of jails in canada, get rid of funding in certain cases for minority groups... he also has a strong evangelical interior, that I guess influences his parties politics, its true I guess I am an idiot when it comes down to politics, but none of this seems good to me..

The ban on gays is bad, but the funding cuts he's already done for social projects and basically all the shenanigans he's pulled and still gets elected, and by a majority no less is terrifying. Although this election was basically people trying to clean up piss with piss. As much as I like Layton, his policies aren't really optimal, and the liberals are pretty self explanatory.

This is why democracy in its current form is flawed...complete boneheads who have no conception of what the ordinary citizen wants are put in charge, and start pasting up medieval laws into the modern world? What's next? Tithing to the Church is going to be reintroduced? Witch hunts? Free leeches on the NHS? madness, sheer madness. But at least most of these medieval monsters are still in North America.

Yup, four years of dark times ahead.
Hopefully after this period those that voted for the Conservatives see what Harper really is.
But if they voted for him even after all those scandals and broken laws I don't think that'll change their mind.

Oh well, watching the CBC on election night was definitely depressing, kept switching back between that and Canada's Worst Handyman. I think the legislation channel will change its name to Canada's Worst Prime Minister.

Let's just kill all these 'conservatives'... I'm tired of them butchering my party's ideals.
