Srpski Film(or A Serbian Film)

Updated my journal
Wow wow wow wow wow! This was my first shock/exploitation film. Let me start this by saying under any circumstances NEVER see this film, it is too messed up and has things that would really screw with you. So let's get into this review.
The film starts off with sex...Charming. The protagonist(Miloš)'s son was watching one of his old porn films. This is just the opening this scene is not developed and is not important. Miloš gets offered a job by a man named Vukmir who wants him for his porn films, he was informed of this offer by one of his former co-stars Lejla. I'm going to cut this short because there is a lot to type out. Miloš has a very awkward oral sex scene with a woman who is badly beaten, he is ordered to beat her while she gives him oral sex. Miloš objects to this and leaves and threatens to retire, Vukmir takes him back to his office for a drink and Vukmir shows him one of his other films involving a woman giving birth and one of the thugs raping the newborn baby, Vukmir says that this is a new revolutionary genre called "Newborn porn". Miloš wakes up the next day badly beaten and his family is nowhere to be seen. He finds some videotapes where he sees that, under the influence of drugs thanks to the drink that Vukmir gave him, he rapes and brutally murders a woman and continues to rape her dead body...I'm dead serious folks, there is another video where one of the film crew rapes Miloš while under the influence of the Aphrodisiac. Disgusted by this, Lejla threatens to leave with Miloš, but Miloš sees in one of the tapes that Lejla was kidnapped, had her teeth pulled out and was forced to have oral sex with a masked rapist, she dies as a result. In another video he was supposed to have sex with a teenage girl but he refused and threatened to cut his penis off. He is getting his dose from the nurse(whom he shared the first awkward oral sex scene with) when he injects the Aphrodisiac into her neck causing her to OD, it cuts to him being dragged, naked, through a hallway where he sees two bodies on a bed both covered with sheets. He rapes the first one then moves onto the second, the masked rapist from earlier appears to rape the first body. Vukmir removes the man's mask to reveal that it is in fact Miloš' brother(who was obsessed with his sister in law. aka Miloš' wife) whom he is raping after he removes one of the sheets. Vukmir removes the second sheet to reveal that Miloš has raped his own son(under the influence of drugs) to death. Shocked by this Miloš snaps out of it and at this point the nurse walks in bloodied and bruised, showing that Miloš raped her after she OD'd. Miloš jumps up and bashes Vukmir's head against the floor, Miloš' wife stands up and bites his brother's throat out and beats him to death with a statue. Miloš grabs one of the thug's guns and shoots him with it, but the gun runs out of ammo before he can kill the second, he beats up the thug knocking off his glasses revealing that he has a burned eye socket, Miloš kills him by sticking his penis into said eye socket. Vukmir says that this is "cinema" and "art", "a happy Serbian family" before dying. Miloš takes his wife and dead son back to his house, and this is where the flashback ends. Miloš is distraught at what he's done and goes back home and kills himself and his wife in their bed. The film ends with another film crew who are about to rape their corpses for another film.
This is a bizarre and messed up film. It pushes the boundaries of what you can put in a film. This film is good at what it does, shocks you. The story is a reflection of the exploitative Serbian Government. I would never recommend this film to anybody, but you know what, I enjoyed this film. There is no other film out there that has shocked me in such a way that my mouth was gaping 90% of the way through this film. It was well written, the acting was very good and it was extremely graphic. This is a great film, if you're into this sort of thing however, give it a look but I won't make any promises, if you're not into this sort of thing, mark my words and STAY THE HELL AWAY!
Pros:
Symbolic story
Great acting
Good dialogue
Keeps you shocked and interested
Cons:
You will never look at sex the same way ever again.
Final thought: I should keep this film for later, maybe it can shock me a 2nd time.
Rating: 9/10
