Birthday charity drive for the SPCA!! PLEASE HELP!
I'm turning 30 this year, and I have decided to help raise money for the local SPCA instead of asking for gifts! My goal is to raise $500 by midnight May 22nd, I have already received $210.
The minimum donation is only $10, but if yo are unable to donate, please help spread the word! The money goes directly to the charity, I never see it, and all donations are tax deductible!
It would really make my birthday awesome if I could reach the goal (or even go beyond it! *fingers crossed*), so please help by donating or spreading the word as much as you can!

Thank you, and much love,

As a side note, this is our LOCAL SPCA. I know these people, they are good people who do what they can not only for the animals around here, but for our community too.

i remember reading a journal about how the SPCA doesn't care about other animals if they aren't dogs and cats. someone wanted rats rescued and the CEO of the company said that they 'couldn't afford to care about animals that were not dogs or cats.'

This is our local SPCA, I don't know about any other. I know they have dealt with birds and other creatures here, including wild animals, sooo..yeah. :/

I should also mention that in the United States, all organizations using the name SPCA are independent. There is no umbrella organization. So perhaps you were reading about a particular SPCA.

that's possible. it may have been ASPCA or something, but the way the journal author spun it, this was the policy of all these shelters.

It might have been the ASPCA. As unfortunate as it is, a no kill shelter means there is limited space. Perhaps the director of that particular SPCA didn't feel they would not be able to adopt out the rats. The downside to no kill shelters is they can only take animals in that are, or can be made adoptable, which will usually be dogs and cats.
