the only thing you're missing out on is an intense couple of years that ruin your drawing drive and leave you with shittons of loans you have to pay off and little to no real career skills, unless you want to do graphic design. believe me. i wish i never wasted money on art school.

the education i received at community college was about as good as the education i received at regular college. i am sure this varies greatly from community college to community college. hypothetically it is posible to travel somewhere to find the best one available to you if the local one is not very good or if you have always just wanted to live somewhere else but are not ready to take on huge debt.

my college has amazing art program and im just about at my associates
i just... kinda feel like shit every time all my classmates are all goin to depaul, ones goin to cali, one scad, then artists on hear all go to super colleges

just work your ass off there and you will feel better when you get out of school and dont owe $100-200k

on a side note every class i took except for two transfered because i finished the associates

I still can't choose between animation and illustration

Well when I did animation, it taught me the technical stuff (compositing) and techniques I needed to know (e.g. keyframes, layouts etc). Illustration I imagine teaches you more to do with drawing and design, for print and such. Of course there's nothing to stop you learning the other in your spare time, or even speaking to the other department.
I hope you pick something you're happy with.

I imagine if that's the case, you can change subjects if you don't feel the animation/illustration course suits you, so long as there are places left for the other. I can't say for certain because I don't know that school, but you can always ask them

I hope everything goes over well for you. Going to a community college got more expensive for me, and I dont qualify for financial aid... I have to find another job, or I wont be going in the fall

Depending on the major you want the dates seem to be different. commonapp.org, as has been previously stated, shows that the application deadline for everything BUT Computer Animation and Game Art & Design majors is July 11th, 2011. The Computer Animation and Game Art & Design application deadline has long since passed.

Commonapp.org has a ton of info on the school and how to apply. Just search for Ringling and it pulls it right up.

If you want specific information give their admissions office a call. They usually have tons of helpful people in there that can answer questions. The numbers are 800-255-7695 / 941-351-5100

I graduated from Ringling in 2004, and loved it! Now I work at Popcap games, and we just took an intern from RSAD, she started Monday. :)
