Bad luck doesnt really even start to explain it. (Rant)

So those of you who actually read my journals, may know that i have a history of shit computers breaking on me. I've always known my luck was bad, but god damn give it a rest.
in the past year, ive had a ton of bad luck on things. with little good luck balancing it all out i would say.
These are the things that have broken in the past 1 year
My Computers:
2 webcams
3-4 motherboards
1 power supply
2 Laptops
(idk what happened to it but it wouldnt even turn on. so i traded it for another better newer laptop a friend gave me cuz it was his old one... and i tried putting windows 7 on it and it keeps blue screening. its definitely a hardware issue of some sort, havent figured it out yet.)
Internet:
like a fucking thousand times on and off.
My Chevy Blazer (Truck):
1 transmission (2 years ago i got a rebuilt transmission.. it really shouldnt have broke so soon)
1 Waterpump
2 Batteries
(this isnt including the oil changes brakes rotors calipers and other BS you gotta do to upkeep vehicles)
I wish so badly i was good enough to fix these things myself... unfortunately alot of them are really in depth and i have no idea how to do them or have the tools to do so... so i end up having to pay stupid amounts of money for labor (mostly on the truck and all. i do have some friends who are pretty good with computers who are kind enough to help me out x3
I love you guys <3 :P
Im probably still even forgetting some shit.. Ugh... you just wait. now that just about everything i NEED to work right now is broken atm, my phone and PS3 will probably burst into flames in a day or 2 just to add insult to injury... its been one problem after another for me for quite a while now and im seriously SERIOUSLY sick of shit breaking on me, waaaaaaay before they should. :/
Till things get worked out ill be on Jasmines computer now and then checking FA and getting on IMs some.. thats about it.
I sware if i get my new computer and something goes wrong with it im going to have an aneurism.
/end rant

FA+

But seriusly, the rest sucks bad; transmissions are finniky creatures.
Although given I've owned the Wii the longest, I haven't had any problems. Neither me nor my friends had issues with our 360s... then again I haven't had time to play games recently.. so not much use there, and my friend's systems are new IIRC..
Chevy = bad
My friend inherited a close-to-30-year-old Corolla that he has since slid into a ditch and bashed into a raised stone median. It still runs just fine.
HP, Gateway, Acer, and Lenovo (in order from worst to best)
1) Nothing you buy is every meant to last, ever. The fact that you bought it means that a company depends on people buying things from them so they can continue to be in business. Therefore it is in their best interest to keep producing, and producing things which will eventually break/require parts.
2) I have known people to just have this... I don't know how to put it. Aura? About them that guarantees that any electrical devices around them will eventually fail. I do hope you're not one of these people.
3) I'm toying with the idea of being a 'mobile mechanic' for furs in the states if/when I return. There isn't a vehicle on this planet I don't know how to work on, from lawnmowers to a Boeing 777 and /everything/ in between. The best bit, is I give furries 'mates rates'
Its a joke. We are living in a throw away economy... A linear system of destruction, production and trashing in a finite world.
Ugh... I won't get started on that, I tend to... Start using lots of business words furries don't care for when I rant about that crap :P
:P
The best part... is that there really isn't any way to stop it, more is more and greed knows no bounds. You can't sell a product or company that has any kind of product longevity in mind because you won't find a /single/ investor willing to spend the money - not when he can multiply his initial much faster with a company that's willing to shave a few morals when it comes to product design.
The thing I hate the most is when a cheaply designed component breaks, but the entire design of the product does NOT facilitate parts replacement due to 'incompatibility'
I am happy to see now that after years of needing like 100 different phone chargers that most are now starting to use a USB port and then the same phone connector... Which is... A nice change.
Its a fundamental problem with capitalism. Consumerism is rewarded. Preservation of materials/environment is not :/
It's heartening to see that people finally /get it./
I just hope it's not too late.
Well... Times are indeed changing, there is an air of a revolution about to hit the Western world spurred on recent events, especially regarding the banker bailouts and misuse of our tax payer funds.
However, that is just... Rumour and whispers for now. Things like planned/perceived obsolescence don't do much to help our society at all. Knowing about it does. Showing you know about it when you take it back to the store is even better :)
My gf hates it because I make a big scene [not by shouting, just by people listening in and thinking wtf] and she would much rather just them get away with it. Sadly most people think this.
'oh its not worth it they do this to everyone'. NO. I need a newspaper so I can bap people when they say things like that x3
Chevy and Ford and such want to sell you a car every 2-3 years. (or however long)
Toyota and Honda want to sell you a car, your mom a car, your brother a car, your friend a car, and so on.
There's a reason Toyota is the #1 car manufacturer in the world.
While the engineered failure may have worked (blindly) in the last generation, the new generation doesn't like it anymore. While I agree that consumers are still sheep, They are starting to get bored with the same old slop day in and day out.
As a retail store owner, and an 18-year self-employed VAR and consultant, I have made a point to build my store thru quantity. I would rather make $5 profit per piece on 1000 pieces, than $500 profit on 10 pieces. Unfortunately, this is not the way it works en masse.
Hmmm, are you saying the bulk system doesn't work en-masse or that the niche set up doesn't work on a large scale? Because both do... The latter just requires careful marketing and pricing strategies :)
Holy crap, you're the unluckiest guy with computers that I know.
I've had several IBM compatibles since I was forced to move to them in 93. I used each one of them for a minimum of 4 years too - and haven't had a single motherboard go down on me.
Hell, I still have my old ZX81 and it still works.
PSUs are like light globes though - you can get one that'll last for 10 years, or 10 minutes.
Can't really comment on the computer situation as there is so many unique variables it would be hard to pin down the problem... If it re-occurring often it may be a power supply issue - components drawing too much power through the mobo - mobo go poof :3
As for the car... Nearly everyone I know who doesn't buy a brand new car has to deal with this, its so frustrating :x
So far I've stuck with Ford... I know 30-50+ years ago they had a horrendous idea of what customer safety was but since then its gotten better :P
Being in love makes all the bad seem not too bad.
Well I tried >.-.>
I'm sorry. :c
as for the computer stuff I know having the animals and stuff can help kill those faster as well as using laptops in areas without a cooling pad. Also the one may not work with 7 and could be fixed by having the orig op system installed
Dryness can cause computer problems galore, as it enhances static discharges, which leads to rapid component failure. Dust is bad for reducing components' ability to dissipate heat.
You can combat both with a humidifier for the computer room(s). Also, cans of air -- blow the dust out of the computers once every week or two.
I'd say look at each problem, see what might be easy to work with (after a while I noticed that the tablets I fixed simply had a wire issue.. after very messy splicing the two tablets work amazingly). It might be nerve wracking but if you have to take a look and learn to repair the stuff. If you wish you could, learn it! ...Just don't give up on it.
^-^ Yush.
