Well, here's a pretty easy one to do. Which is a nice change of pace.
My hobbies include watching movies, a fact I have made painfully obvious for anyone who has ready any of my journals. I love reading about movie, the history of film, and of course actually watching them. I'm pretty eclectic in what I watch. If you look at my movie collection, I have at least 4 silent films, several foreign films, a few cheesy 80's movies (Adventures in Babysitting is the best y'all), some musicals, some 70's Blaxploitation (Pam Grier is amazing), some actual recent films, and so on and so forth. I like them all, really. I love Bette Davis, she's my favorite actress of all time, I've seen her in 37 movies, which is quite a bit.
I love to read. I'm currently reading Infinite Jest, and it's taking me forever to actually work through it. Usually I'm a pretty fast reader, but this book just sort of takes a toll on my patience at time. I love a good mystery, which explains why I'm a huge Agatha Christie fan. But my favorite book of all time is probably Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. It was completely devastating and I couldn't pick up another book for the rest of the day after I finished reading it.
I know this sounds sad, but I also like TV. I know a lot of people scoff at TV and say how there's nothing good on it, but those people are wrong (And you can quote me on that). Currently, I really like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Damages, True Blood, Dexter (even though it's kind of past its prime), Archer, Weeds, and Nurse Jackie. I also watch Survivor and The Amazing Race, which is really just reality show trash, but they've sort of become a weekly thing for me and my dad to do together, so it's nice.
But, I also love Six Feet Under, a show created by Alan Ball, who created True Blood and won and Oscar for his screenplay for American Beauty (which is an awesome movie). That show is probably the greatest TV show I've ever seen, or will ever see. The finale alone wrecked me and I spend about 2 weeks in a depression afterward (That's not uncommon, so don't think of me as weird). I still can't even hear the song Breathe Me without having scenes from it flashing through my head and making me sad. In addition to Six Feet Under, I love Arrested Development, Veronica Mars, My So-Called Life, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Lost, and a lot of show I'm probably forgetting.
I also work out. I'm currently doing the P90X workout program (I have 1 day and 1 week left of it until I'll have completed my first round). And it usually leaves me a tired, sore, sweaty mess, the kind that image that could kill arousal across the nation. But I've lost a lot of weight and I'm getting more toned in other parts of my body, so I'll probably keep doing it. Plus, it's something constructive to do. I wake up, I work out, and then I don't need to worry too much about finding something to do, I can just sort of do what I want and not feel guilty about being lazy because I worked my ass of in the morning. Oh, another added benefit is that I'm getting pretty flexible, like, I can almost put my foot behind my head. Ooo, sexy, I know.
I do some writing, just some stupid little 3-4 page things, usually about myself. I've shown a few people, and they say I write like David Sedaris. I didn't really understand that until I read Me Talk Pretty One Day, and I didn't realize what a huge compliment that would be. My friends keep telling me I should write a book, since my family is kind of fucked up (but in a more endearing way as opposed to a "call children services" way").
Hmmm, I also like board games, especially the kind that involve screwing people over.
Oh, and I also cook. I've mentioned this before too, but I've been doing all of the household cooking for about 7-8 years. And I recently became the family baker, taking care of any and all birthday cakes. Aren't I just a catch, kids?
And video games, how the hell do I forget video games? I've been playing since I was 3, when my dad bought me an SNES (A certain fried of mine is probably feeling old when I mention that). I am A RPG whore, I love RPGs, easily my favorite game genre. I adore the Final Fantasy games (9 is my favorite, though some will argue with my sanity at that point). Some of my favorite games are Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect 2, Final Fantasy 9, Final Fantasy 8, Elite Beat Agents, Perfect Dark, Super Mario RPG, The Ace Attorney series, The Elder Scrolls III and IV, BioShock 1 and 2. I'm sure I'm forgetting others, but that's a constant theme with me, so bear with me.
Anyway, I think that covered most of it. And Holy Hell did I write a lot.
