new computer! + crunch time

I actually got this last weekend, but have been to busy with assignments to gush about it here. So here is an obligatory "I have a new computer now yay!" post.

Here's its specs, since people inevitably ask:
Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz Memory: 8192MB RAM
Hard Drive: 2 TB
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 6850
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)
Computer Case: Thermaltake V3 Black Edition
I only replaced the tower - since that was the only thing that died - so my peripherals are still the same dusty old things.
Windows 7 was a bit of a pain to get used to - I still miss the XP save file dialogs, tbh - but on the whole it seems to be much shinier and faster than XP. It took me a while to get all my programs up and running again, it was really annoying since I was upgrading from a 32 to 64 bit system, so that meant having to reinstall everything. Especially all my Steam games, oh god. (so this means I've downloaded Borderlands a grand total of 2 and a half times. jeez.)
Anyway, I really do have to apologise - once again - for the lack of progress on commissions. >< I have two weeks before all my assignments are due, so if I have time I'll try to get some work done. The work for my animation assignment may be of some interest to the furry crowd here, so I may post the rough pass for that in a bit.
Once again, apologies for the lack of work!

Nice computer, indeed. I'll aim for a similar system next month, but the CPU will be a "K" version. I like to overclock. Also, I'll take an Nvidia GPU instead for the sake of CUDA and PhysX. :E
