[Games] How to make a winning game trailer
14 years ago
Start with what you know that has worked in the past.
Epic music from Star Trek 11: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ETD.....VGJY4&t=30
Gritty narrator from Terminator Salvation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2svoPs1qcOY
Modern ninja moves from Equilibrium: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pTG.....g6lY&t=195
Mix them together and what do you get? Deus Ex Human Revolution Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6JTvzrpBy0
Skip to 1:15 into the trailer and observe the Christian Bale-sounding voice, followed by the Michael Giacchino-sounding music, finally ending with Christian Bale-looking fight scenes. It's all there!
~_~ Even if you think I'm stretching stuff a bit, you can't deny that all three trailers are bad-ass (and the Equilibrium fight scene is pretty entertaining too, if borderline silly).

FA+

but at the same times dosen't show too little.
I'm just gonna leave that there.
At least health that can regen makes more sense when you start bringing in body modification. Sorta.
for now...
Also, it's journals like these that keep me watching you. That, and the journals about tessellation in DX11 and all the wonders of Google Wave back when it was alive. :P

Analysis: Mostly gas, no traction whatsoever.
Captain's note: "Like throwing a hot-dog down a hallway."
Deus Ex does look good, though.
There are statistical lines of fire that every gunfight, regardless of location of combatants, will always generate. What you are doing is positioning your body so you are out of those lines of fire, without needing to move around great distances, it also involves aiming your own guns at the statistically probable locations for enemy combatants.
If you watch, they even took the time to have certain shots the hero fires miss because he's aiming one or both of his guns in a direction where a guy -might- be but isn't.
Just thought I'd explain, and in real life the human brain can't possibly run calculations fast enough, and the body can't react quickly enough, for that to be feasible.
I am getting hyped over this game, right now I am trying to get through the first one to get a feel for the basic elements of the series. So far so good, just need to decide on how to progress in abilities and whatnot...
I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it. Loving the music so far, both in the trailers and in the sarif industries promotional site, enough to download them.
What would you rather have them do, a neutral review? O.o;
I loved the original Deus Ex, and so would hope this one would be able to come close to what it was, but have the fear that they'll end up dumbing it down too much. The item glow thing they had in some of the gameplay videos was a big turnoff too, and the coverbased system as well.
