CROWCHILD: On the subject of my condition and "the cure".

This has nothing to do with any of my projects. This is just me talking and venting my anger at my situation.
I'm going to be as straight forward as I can. One of the greatest crimes we have ever committed as a society is limiting access to naturally occurring medications. However, We pump ourselves full of pharmaceutical poison without question and then wonder why we die from the side effects.
I have a rather cruel disorder. It's not life threatening by any means. Nor is it transmittable to any other person on the planet. I have Tourette syndrome. Not bad, not like some of the kids I went to school with, but just enough to make it impossible to function when it gets bad.
I will tell you that after 23 years of dealing with this beast I have found the GOLDEN CURE to my affliction.
The name of this cure is Cannabis. That's right WEED! Weed make my muscles in my eyes not role back in my skull, or chirp uncontrollably for hours on end. It KILLS this thing in me and keeps it at bay almost instantly. With just one puff I go from being completely unproductive to being a normal functioning member of society.
I swear by this and I am sure there are others who agree.
The point is that our WONDERFUL federal government has made this miracle illegal, and punishable to the same degree as heroin, or meth. Now it is my observation that meth is closer to a demon, than even a poison.
This is not fair. I smoke every day. Not a lot but enough to keep my vision and sanity. My hands also try to break themselves at times it seems. That as you can imagine makes drawing complicated. Animation...don't even get me started.
The reason I type this now is to demonstrate how misleading the media can be. Always making us out to be dumb stoners looking for a loophole. I will be posting a video to my blog tonight as my tics are getting worse by the minute and It is actually becoming difficult to this rant. The reason I post a video is to show what a difference there is between a medicated Crow and a non-medicated crow. I warn you it is a bit odd looking and maybe a bit disturbing. I will also post a link to a video tomorrow evening to show what a difference one dose makes.

I have not smoked in one week, and it finally shows. If for any other reason I post this for documentation on how this can effect someone with TS.
I won't lie. I am in a state of physical hell. I will show you this so you can see for yourself what is being kept from the population as a whole. I'm not saying it is a cure for all, but it sure as hell works for me.
There are drugs on the market that may help if you are lucky and in most cases VERY rich. I will tell you that in my own experience the drugs on the shelf are worse than the condition itself. They can cause many side effects some of which I still deal with today. In contrast the munchies are a small price to pay against the prospect of permanent liver damage, chronic depression and extreme weight gain.
On a related note, before some cocky dweeb gets this in, No, I do not use user donations to buy my meds. I use them to keep the studio running. To do otherwise would be disrespectful to those who do not share my praise and faith in this drug.
I will resume tomorrow with my work as my medication should be here by then.
Thank you all for being understanding.

Also, I do not partake but I will support it.
And lastly, http://vimeo.com/10298561 For fun.
Sorry to hear hun
I think it shouldn't be legalized for recreational use though. Medical use it's perfect and safe, but for general use people tend to not be able to control themselves and there is definitely side effects of using it too much.
A lot of drugs such as Cocaine and Heroine were capable of doing wonders as a Medical drug (Cocaine was planned to assist people who were getting lack of brain stimulation because of their nervous system wasn't functioning properly) but because it's misused so much it was deemed illegal.
it's really a shame that a drug capable of doing a lot a great things becomes illegal simply because of misuse.
which is fine by me but the gov't wont make any money off it.
if pooky J is growin it in his basement and sellin it then it becomes legal but taxed to hell.. hell double his business selling a tax free, legal product grown illegally.
And people growing it in their home would be allowed a small amount tax-free like homebrewers.
But the homegrowers of weed in america are doing fine illegally so taxing it might be hard. since they can still make it discreet and illegal, though that would take alot of the risk off of the smoker and onto the dealer which might be a positive point for legal smoking.
Consider home brews. Even buying an expensive craft beer will likely be cheaper, per bottle, than brewing your own. And once you start discussing industrial production scale there's no contest. There's a reason shitty beers like Budweiser can be sold for $1 a bottle, they cost next to nothing to produce.
Most states and counties don't mind the home brewer making a few gallons in his basement every few weeks, but as soon as it get ramped up into an industrial level (even at craft brewing scales) and being sold commercially they begin expecting careful collection of taxes.
But realistically the most likely outcome for legalizing marijuana will be to turn it into a Schedule II drug, which is still highly regulated (cocaine is Schedule II, for example) and probably have the FDA begin actual open drug trails on it using scientific techniques.
Stopped reading there. If everyone thought like you, polio and smallpox would still be a fact of everyday life.
Show some gratitude. There is no such thing as a biological free lunch, so every beneficial medication will have side effects. Deal with it, or forfeit the decades-longer lifespan you owe to "pharmaceutical poison".
NATURE has our CURES!!!
Hell they are using the sap from a DEW PINE to help treat CANCER!!!!!
And wearing respirators is standard OSHA policy in many labs. Heck, even in low-level college chemistry labs there's a significant amount of safety gear (glasses, aprons, gloves, etc.) that have to be worn.
I myself have adult ADHD, I have had it my entire life, I went from being a presidents list straight A student to being put on Ritalin and being a drooling slug thrown into alternative school in a matter of WEEKS....
I will NEVER condone any lab made drug that did not ORIGINATE as a natural product.
By Originate, I mean 1st stage processing... NOT a combination of 2-3 drugs that are 2nd or third stage derivatives like speed (the main parent of Ritalin by the way that is derived from cocaine, derived from the coca leaf. there's your science lesson.)
My point is that I HIGHLY support anyone that wants to use Mary-J in medicinal ways. Be it cooked or extracted, or even smoked.
There is one good, thing, though. In the end Mr. Darwin will prove one of us right.
Prove it.
Simply put, manmade medicines have no guarantee that they will work either. And quite true, some of the deadliest poisons did come from nature. In fact, it took trial and error to figure out what is what, just the same it took trial and error to find out how to extract the good from the bad. In a sense, you need the bad to make good manmade medicines.
And the thing about manmade medicines is that they tend to have drastic side effects.
The benefit of man made medicines is that they have to go through rigorous studies proving they work and the side effects aren't crippling before they can be sold and they can have that approval revoked should it later prove prove to be harming people. But any yahoo can stuff a plant (or anything, even just sugar pills) in a bottle, call it "natural," make a few unfounded claims and make a killing doing it and there's very little the FDA can do unless it's outright killing people.
Every medicine has side effects. Period. No exceptions. Some are worse than others but none are totally free from them. Even what we're discussing here, cannabis, has well documented side effects. There are people who want a "big phrama" version of it that has been processed to only give them an appetite (or pain relief, whatever) and consider the high that comes with straight consumption to be an unwanted side effect. Let's not get into neurological and lung problems that come with long-term use. I mean we're talking about a plant that causes the lung damage of tobacco with the neurological damage of alcohol and acting like it's some kind of harmless wonder drug.
Even so, these “manmade” medicines will most likely help drive us to extinction. It’s counterproductive. Since such powerful medicines are being created that kills off super viruses, there are hardly any natural organisms that are suppose to kill us off. This causes a huge influx of overpopulation, and the stripping of our worlds recourses. In due time, the ability to live will mean to kill each other, thanks to such wonderful technologies.
Not only does every manmade medicine have a side effect, but so does everything else. It was someone who said that everything that makes an action, there is an equal, and opposite reaction. Cause and effects, everything comes into play. And cannabis is a much simpler solution. It’s easier to live with harsher, and possibly worse lungs, then to delve in a world of bio-reactive substances that might as well give you birth defects, bleeding analy, and subconscious anger and mood swings.
And just, kid, you just have no idea what you're talking about. None. Go back to reading your crystals, smoking your dope and let the grown ups handle things.
Unless you have something intelligent to say, then please, just go do your steroids and pharmaceutical drugs, and let people have their own opinions on the matters of right and wrong. Seeing as you have no sense in it, I believe I shall kindly observe that you might try to strike at me with a direct insult. Scrutinize that this means mocking someone else’s intellect, especially on a webpage, rarely holds any merit.
And "now praise tell"? Seriously? Are schools that worthless today? The proper phrase is "pray tell." Seriously, you're showing off your ignorance more and more.
And the age thing; older, does not necessarily mean smarter. Get used to it. Using the age card is profoundly not an acceptable debate, even when trying to discredit your opponent. Now, as you explained that since you are so older, you must be smarter than me, correct? Then grow a set of balls, get back on topic, and chill out with the slander. Or is it that you can’t commute like a proper adult?
And, ok, back on topic.
Yes, I've taken steroids. In 1978 after I was born 9 weeks premature I was given steroids to help increase my muscle mass and improve lung function. Without them I would have died. Oh, and there's my mother who took them after being bitten by a brown recluse on her knee. Know what the "all natural" cure for a brown recluse bite is? Amputation. So, yeah, I certainly think steroids have their place in medical treatment.
Oh, and yeah I take a medication made by Janssen Pharmaceutica, but as I said the last time I took anything remotely "natural" for my condition I almost lost my thyroid gland. The only real side effect I get with this medication is weight gain, but that's pretty normal for atypical antipsychotics. Considering weight gain can be controlled by diet and exercise but losing your thyroid is a major life-changing problem that's potentially fatal I think I"ll take my chances at the gym.
And the all natural cure for being cold, is fire. Aside from amputation, that’s more of a surgery then a type of drug. Now, for steroids, it depends what kind someone would be taking. Some of them are actually made up of different types of tea’s, strangely enough, come from natural resources. The other ingredients were replicated enzymes, minerals, and vitamins from other natural ingredients into much smaller, but concentrated doses.
There are manmade drugs that can do things that natural ones just simply cannot. But in the cases where they can have the same desirable effects, such as leeches to unclog blood, can be used as a great substitute. Penicillin is another great example. It stems from mold, a natural cure that was never meant to be until an accident involving bad bread.
Most drugs on the shelf today, are mostly for profit as well. There is hardly any research into preventing outbreaks or diseases, but rather, there is more money in curing it when they come too.
Most drugs on the shelf treat some kind of disease or chronic condition. There are billions being spent researching treatments for communicable diseases that haven't yet been brought under control due to vaccines, antibiotics or improved public hygiene. (Seriously, a good sewer and drainage system is more effective in preventing many disease outbreaks than any amount of medicines.) And things like flu vaccines are proactively preventing outbreaks. It's hard to treat a disease that isn't known yet, so for the foreseeable future medicine will have to react to a new disease being discovered. To say there's "hardly any research" is naive at best. For every Viagra is a dozen low-profit low-profile medicines to treat less titillating diseases. I think there's plenty wrong with modern medicine (namely the absolute explosion of direct-to-patient advertising) but I don't doubt their commitment to discovering treatments and cures.
Do you think biomedical companies should work for free? I think medication prices are outrageous and biomedical companies are gouging Americans, but I also think they should be allowed to make a profit.
While companies do need profit in order to keep business going, it’s a bit different when it becomes a life or death situation. Sadly, there are those that depend on drugs to stay healthy. Because of this, the medical companies that produce their goods can set their prices to whatever they want, (if overseen by the government,) and still have people buy them. Because they need it. It’s like gas…can’t drive a car without gas. (unless it’s electric.)
allow me to make an analogy; Aloe plants are much like electric cars. You only require a small amount of maintenance, but the things they can do are phenomenal. Since they can be grown easily, Aloe plants are perhaps one of the top natural healers out there. In fact, many, many manufacturers depend on these plants for a lot of medicine. We used to have some, and they were awesome. Just break off a part of it, rub it on a wound or burn, and the plant grows back. Just like electric cars, you don't have to worry much about how much you use it, there isn’t much need to replace it.
I will say though, that humanity “evolves” by how fast technology grows. I wouldn't quite use that word, but it’s a good example. We thrive on finding better ways to leap over life’s obstacles, and manmade drugs is an essence of that. But we can’t forget that natural drugs have their place as well, since they were there in the beginning. And they are still here to help us too, even though hemp and the like have a bad reputation. I’ve never had any health problems that would require taking narcotics, but there are those that say it helps ease the pain, just as any other shelf drug would.
that is the point I was trying to make with that statement is that companies got greedy.
you may post again
The medical companies are not your friends. Polio vaccine was gotten as a NON profit gift from a soviet scientist. Wanted to help mankind.
Medical companies want you as close to death as possible so you keep eating their poisons. They're not interested in a cure unless it's something they can patent and milk.
I worked as a human guinea-pig and I know first hand that they make a medicine, then they invent the disease it's for.
I was on substance X95342-S6 for half a year. I had nerve-pains and half my face felt paralyzed for a week. I would often get disoriented, couldn't tell where I were and what was I doing.
All this was ignored. "We're not gonna write that down..sounds so unusual." Unusual indeed. I was the test-pilot for this stuff. Of course it's unheard of..they approved it depression for a reason I can't understand.
Vaccines and shots are not what he means (i.e. the cures for smallpox and polio)
We're talking about these miracle pills that drop weight for the price of your sanity or cure your manic depression by getting rid of your manic and upping your depression.
So yes.. we pump ourselves with poisons all the time because we think they're making us better... but the truth is we haven't cured a disease in decades and that's because big pharmaceutical has been focusing on 80 yr old guys with boners and sad teenagers who just need a friend but since mommy and daddy are busy... a little white pill will take care of them instead.. its sickening and we don't owe them a goddamn thing!
I've been medicated throughout my childhood and i can safely say i would probably be a better person without it.
Doctors will throw a pill at absolutely everything and Crow could spend the rest of his life sorting through boxes of colored pellets and choking them down praying one will work or having to mix and god knows what it will do to his body.. or he could light up for 5 seconds and be a properly functioning human being.
Seeing that she is a psychologist I consider myself to be more than blessed to have someone who DID THEIR DAMN RESEARCH in my corner.
I'll tell you the one that I was on for the longest was a chemical called Fluphenazine.
I HATE THIS DRUG: THIS IS NOT AN ADD FOR THIS DRUG: But it worked for a while.
A lovely list of data and SIDE EFFECTS can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluphenazine
However, I can tell you that the green stuff blows ALL of that crap clean out of the water.
Also, re "we haven't cured a disease in decades"? Pure bullshit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeli.....0.E2.80.931999
Know that it's mindsets like yours that gave Andrew Wakefield's bullshit a voice, and created a whole movement based on complete nonsense. Nonsense that literally killed thousands of children.
Totally agree that weed has medical applications and that the "war on drugs" in general is anachronistic puritanical bullshit, but the whole attacking the medical/pharmaceutical industry that often accompanies that sentiment (as can be plainly seen all over the comments) is just pathetic.
They just recently had to halt a Niacin study because it was causing more strokes than preventing, but the FDA failed to take that into consideration before they let it be prescribed to the general populace. And people are still taking it.
Side effects are not rare. To say so is profoundly inaccurate. That's why they have to list them, because they exist with enough regularity to be of note.
I can't even use birth control because of the horrendous side effects -- many women take the pill to get rid of the side effects they create in me. I too can not take penicillin. Heck, you take enough ibuprofen for a long enough time and your kidneys will fail.
I'll agree that decades is a little harsh, but much of what's in that wiki list aren't cures. They are medical advancements for sure, but the last successful vaccine was in 1992 for Hep A.
The HPV vaccine only prevents against 4 types, and there are 200 known forms of it -- 4 is hardly worthy of calling it a cure. Plus, at a few hundred dollar price tag, it's not cheep to get either.
The point Crow's making is that we still haven't cured Cancer, AIDS, Parkinson, Hep C, the list goes on. They can't even decide at what age a woman should get a breast cancer screening.
But at the same time, we have a pill to help you sleep (just watch out for sleep driving), get rid of the tingle in your legs (beware of strokes), make your cock bigger (warning: 4 hour erection), and make your eyelashes grow thicker (may permanently tint your eyes brown).
How are those advancements worth more of our time and money than Cancer?
It's not the vaccines. It's the over abundance of pills that do more harm than good -- with side effects more frightening than the disease -- that are the concern.
Thank you! you seemed to describe it better than i :P
Also there's this new pill that will make all the bad people into unicorns and take all the fat in the food you eat and turn it into pure gasoline and transport it into your car... you must take it!
Do you feel sleepy in the mornings?
Suffer a sudden loss of appetite after eating?
Have trouble seeing at night?
Lose consciousness for hours and hours after being up all day?
We have a pill for that!
Phukitol
I agree with my dad's take on it, "If alcohol and tobacco is legal, why is marijuana illegal?" I mean they try to convince people it's a gateway drug... to less dangerous drugs. Cocaine, Heroin and Amphetamines are Schedule II drugs (highly regulated), while Pot is Schedule I (totally illegal, no known medical use).
P.S. how long have u been growing ur hair out? ha last time i saw a pic of u or anything u had short hair, just curious. anyways take it easy
so yeah... your strong, stay strong, ...try to think of other words. meditation can do wonders.
I discovered years ago that smoking grades of at least middies was sufficient to put me to sleep no matter what surge of insomnia I was experiencing. Thus I was able to end week-long bouts of insomnia.
Nowadays my insomnia is not so bad. But alas, I live in a state that is not California. And my insomnia still crops up. And it makes my life unbelievably miserable. And I am subject to the abilities of my 'dealers' to provide, which is not always possible, to get a hold of that glorious green icky sticky bud.
REGULATE IT. TAX IT. LEGALIZE IT. And remember to thank Reagan for this irrational fear and hatred of a plant that truly deserves neither emotion.
And even in the Book of Lies, you sometimes find truth: http://media.fukung.net/images/1020.....182738148b.jpg
With that they should legalize prostitution. It would make things more controllable, and more importantly, safer for both the hooker and the "visitor". Again, the government would benefit from this (think of all the income tax), and the pimps, well, they would become businessmen.
I still think weed is a gateway drug to some, and that worries me. I never used weed, and never will. But being from the Netherlands I have known many friends that used weed. There it is illegal, but you can purchase up to 5 grams for personal use. You can smoke in coffee-shops or your own home. Sadly they don't enforce the law, and you get to smell weed everywhere in the big city. Since the USA has better law enforcement the same rules can be made to apply here. And the fines should be hefty to deter people from stretching the boundaries. Don't smoke and drive campaigns need to be used as well.
If you use a vaporizer you eliminate the need for tobacco, and get all the THC you need. That or bake it into a cake. If you use responsibly, you will never end up on the wrong side of the jail door. It's the idiots smoking on the street that give everything a bad name.
Eitherway. :T
This is the ooonnnlllyyyyyyy excuse I would agree with for weed. For and ONLY for Medical Purposes. :V
[So what your saying is they dont have Medical Cannabis in this medical weed places? >_o]
I smoke it fairly regularly and it's excellent. As there is no actual THC in the product, it is impossible to get 'used' to. It IS very expensive however (moreso than weed) $60 Aus for 3.5 grams. I also have no clue if it would help your condition in the same way real weed does , however if you are finding weed difficult to obtain it might be worth a look.
Wanted to ask if those pills MIGHT be a viable alternative for you, all things considered.
In any event, I do TRULY, like many others, wish you the very best possible with all this.
http://www.youtube.com/user/gidrow
But on a side note: I still wondered what happened to G.I.Drow? ( Hmm, maybe transformed into hth studios for BETTER)
Even my mom knows that weed is harmless, everyone I know has smoked it, even me. It must be legalized once and for all!
However the source of all this crap started in the 1930's with racist fear against
Latino's and blacks and the greed of the lumber industry.
I have seen good points on this comment list and I have to say ...to each his/her own.
I certainly hope you're doing better Crow, I absolutely love your work but artist comes before the art.
Stay healthy please, sorry you have to go through that. What an odd condition, when you really think about it..if I had to deal with that I'd stay in constant fear of my eyes tearing themselves up and around as I sleep -I move in weird ways when I sleep- D:
Woah, didnt' read the weed part when I wrote what I said above. Really? Holy shit. I gotta try that. Dude, honestly, I could smoke all the time if I wanted to, but I just don't cause i wanna keep my lungs strong. I've been high like twice. But I mean, I don't remember anything about torretts bothering me when I was high. Probably cause I was high, heh.
Also, yah I feel you with the meds. I was kinda a guinea pig to some docs I suppose, with them trying diff meds to see wad they did.
This was to make it easier to deal with my aspergers and adhd.
All it did for me was turn me into a zombie so i was easier to shunt in a corner....
Back to the meds, Quite simply all they did was cause insomnia, weight loss (I was already naturally skinny, so the weight loss caused me to weigh like 90lb when I should have been weighing 130lb) and (you could almost guess this) more problems focusing. Funny thing is, after being moved to a smaller class-room and having a few adults to talk to that would actually listen to me and try and do something about it, I turned out fine. Right as rain. Sorry for the rant, but ADD and ADHD is next to non-existent when compared with how much they over prescribe it. Hell they probably just said you had ADHD just to get you out of the way so they could move on to the next guy in line and make money.
A good friend of mine is satisfied with these (he has the same syndrome as you)
you should ask a doctor about it, but i don't know the english word for these two.
Also, sorry for my bad english.
you should see about moving to oregon or cali someday as both have laws providing for medicinal use, i believe washington might as well but i'm not sure.
i smoked a joint after watching that for you.
Can't say I know what you're going through, but I have heard many stories similar and man....that's just not right for you to have to deal with.
Why is it the talented people are always given the worst in life?
A woman carrying something in her pocket gets a life sentence while in the same state a child molester will get 2 years or something.
Also addicts are getting real help to get off it, of if they can't they'll be provided with regular 'medicine' to get by and stay out of trouble. From our prospective this seems a lot more productive rather than the US war on drugs.
but yeah, the whole drugs thing seems a touchy subject in the US.
Do what you've got to do. Love your work.
