The front page news story on the local paper yesterday was about police looking for the person who shot someone's cat non-fatally with a BB gun. This was accompanied by a picture of a decidedly healthy-looking cat in the arms of a little girl, and frankly, the look on her face was more "stoked about being in the newspaper" than "upset about someone injuring her cat".
I mean, I know, I know, it's the local paper for a boring-ass suburban town in southern Ontario, but come on, really? :P

That's what Ontario newspapers are outside bigger cities: a couple pages of human interest stories with a photo of children or a pet on the front, five pages of whining to the editor, twenty pages of sports coverage, and fifty pages of ads. It's a good thing they're free; nobody would willingly pay for them!

The alternate theory behind that picture is that the little girl was "stoked about someone injuring her cat". Come to think of it, maybe we should be taking a look at the description of the perp in question. It might do to compare with a sketch of any of the girl's imaginary friends.
