Commisions are: OPEN
so, now that the big 3 are done with their shows, I just thought it would be appropriate to sum up my feelings of the whole thing.
First, we have Microsoft; which really is pushing the Kinect. . . to the point that you're going to need one apparently. Right from the start, anyone could tell that the kinect's initial success was going to be short-term, and that in the long run, it would die out, as all gimmicks do. In order to prevent their investment from going under, they are now marketing it 200%, and apparently making it necessary for the newest dashboard.
as for the games, it's nice to see them implementing voice orders, but I don't see it catching on. Honestly, there are only so many times you can shout "Garrus, advance" before you switch back to using the controller's one-button action. Also, in the time it takes you to bark out an order to a specific character (clearly) you could have pressed the advance button/key several times.
Sony showed off a lot of what we knew was coming, and the PSVita (PSP2) looks pretty cool. I'm still not sold on 3D TVs, and I won't be getting a Move, but one thing that really is nice, is that neither are needed, and are only implemented to add to the experience of some of the games. Aside from that, they showed off their exclusive titles; Like Infamous 2 and Uncharted 3, something I expected.
Nintendo showed off the Wii U ( FFFFFFFFFFFFFF- ) and it looks. . . kinda awesome. With a interesting control set up, and the fact that you can keep your wii motes and stuff, it helps to have owned one. Super Smash Bros. on the Wii2 and the 3DS, Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword on both the Wii2 and the Wii, and the 3rd party titles should make it a big competitor.
I can't really say who has won E3, but I think I'm most excited for Nintendo's line-up. Microsoft is really pushing the Kinect, in a way that seems a little cruel to players who do not want to shell out the $150 for one, but Sony is basically giving the consumers the choice on the Move.
. . . I guess Nintendo and Sony tied this time around.
I'm hoping we'll hear more about Dragon Quest X at the Tokyo Game Show, as we've yet to hear anything, and I really want to know if I should just sell my Wii for the Wii U. That being said; let's talk about the 3rd parties.
Star Wars the Old Republic's opening footage was shown, which is awesome. Mass Effect 3 (despite shoe-horned Kinect stuff) looks awesome. Devil Survivor 2 is headed to the US, and so is Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 (not the improved versions). The reboots of Devil May Cry and Resident Evil look horrendous, but Asura's Wrath seems promising. . . and that's it. . so far. Skyrim looks amazing, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.
anywhoooooo, what do you guys think?

I'm glad Joker 2 is comming over though, I wax nostalgia for Dragon Warrior Monsters every so often x3
DmC I've never liked the look of, and I didn't even know Resi was getting a reboot.
Joker 2 sounds cool, but we're not getting the "Professional" addition o n o
DMC looks awful, and the other reboot, for Resident Evil, is an FPS
because a certain head's idealistic (retarded) ideas of Westernizing their franchises in order to be more like the Western Market, are unfortunately still being considered.
DmC I've always hated because Devil May Cry has been on a downward spiral since 3, and also that they keep making poorly written damn prequels in a crap attempt to pretend they never made DMC2.
With the addition of Resident Evil FPS games, not enough facepalms could describe how I feel about Capcom's future, they've already made Resident Evil FPSs before, they were called DEAD AIM, and failed horribly.
the problem really lies with CAPCOM sending off their franchises to be developed (shit out) by Western devs, because they somehow think it will make them more popular in the West. . .
When that dragon swooped in and grabbed the giant in the video I saw, It was an automatic sell from me.
Duel wielding; dual casting, actual 3rd person view, finishers, humans that do not look like clones/mutants, dragons as constant bosses throughout the campaign, a story that bends to your playstyle, and the confirmation you can play a female character (I was afraid they were taking that out when the trailers kept talking about "his". Silly me, just look at 99.9999% of games with gender choices to see that they use the male choice as the mascot. . .)
I'm cool with what I've seen thus far(especially the 3rd person view not looking like blocky robotic crap). Once we see the other races and their options/modifiers to gameplay, it might be interesting to see where all of this goes. I might be picking Oblivion back up just to feed the need until November.
Oh, and they've already said in that same video I saw that you can choose to play a female character. And from what I've seen, the models of said womenfolk characters don't look like utter crap.
and FemShep is the shit
Other than that, I have to get myself a 3DS.
and that controller looks awesome. No more HUDs getting in the way of your screen!
Loving everything Nintendo is dishing out.
M$: KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT Gears of War 3 KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT Minecraft and Ghost Recon. . . with Kinect KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT KINECT Halo 4
Sony: 3D you can avoid the Move if you want, and the PSVita can do EVERYTHING!
Nintendo: WE'RE STILL AWESOME
Kinect is at least not using a black Wii-Mote with a ball on top. But, not many will want to use it will they? Sure kids and others might and that works.
People thought Wii was a dumb name. Vita? I'd have to like Sony to like that name.
And Yeah, 3DS for me this X-mas and Wii U for the next or next X-mas.
They do their own thing and that's what they do. They may not care what anyone thinks of them because they still print money with what they sell. And with how they make it, that's all that matters in business sometimes.
Honestly, PSV rolls of the tongue more than PSP2. . . so I'm not all that mad about it.
I will be calling the Wii U the Wii 2, and no one can stop me. That, and if I use that name I keep making Kung Pow Enter the Fist references. . .
As much as business matters, it isn't going to make it any less obvious that they are forcing there users to shell $150 for things that have been done before. Voice commands; done before, motion; done to death, party games; need to die. I can understand why they are pushing it, I said so in my journal; but at the same time, i feel awful for consumers who can get most of the exclusives on the PC in better quality, and are being talked down to by Cookie Monster. That, and developers like Bioware being strong-armed into making their baby; Mass Effect, Kinect enabled. . .
Ha. Just imagine that.
Fun fact: Kinect can't pick up naked people.
G4 figured that out with an actual (blurred for TV) naked woman.
Kinect is still probably going to die out, cant see it being useful in games. Voice control maybe, but id never really use kinect. Got a wii and never really used it. Keyboard is still better.
Wii U is going to be a flop, except maybe if the wii is used for sutff other than games, like it'd make internet easier, mutliple use on wii, (two screens, two applications), but itll sell maybe 3 or four, then die.
But I cant wait for Skyrim. Really cannot wait. Love bethesda productions. Played fallout 3/nv till I bled, oblivion till exploded. Got a poster & everything. Still never finished main story though. Same as FO3, got to last mission, lost all saves. Rage. And just found naked mods & sex mods. Ha. Going to reinstall for that XD
Cant wait for skyrim :D
2. Wii U is going to get a lot of hate, but I can see it doing incredibly well, and people totally ignoring it's success. . . that's just how it goes. I think you're just being pretty jaded on this for no good reason.
3. Skyrim will be epic. . . though I anticipate glitches. . . oh god, do I anticipate glitches.
2- Wii u, will be little used, but not often in lots of games. With Wii 2 or something maybe. If I could connect it to pc, that would be epic.
3- Skyrim, uber epic. But I predict very linear parts, mainly with dragons, and balancing. Dragons will be high level. If its not, it doesnt deserve to be a dragon. XD And glitches, a fair few, but not terrible. Bethseda are good with glitches. Oblivion, FO games, almost none. Anh hopefully console access so can spawn stuff when get bored :)
In terms of power and usability, you can look all that up yourself, it's not hard to find the specs.
dragons will appear at random, as they go wherever they want (AI). As for the glitches, I remember sooooo many funny AI bugs in Oblivion.
And I didnae the wii u is the wii 2, I just thought that it was an add-on controller to the wii. Easy enough mistake ryt? XO
