I'm already really depressed today. It's been a really terrible week for me... Animal Cops has just come on and I really find myself frustrated by the terrible things that people will do. It's seeing these things, and dealing with irritating, rude and selfish people... that makes it so I would only give my service and volunteer time to the animals. These animals ask for no more than some food, shelter, and occasional affection. These animals love you when no one else will. I adopted a pekingese in March that came from a hoarding situation. He was found in a tiny crate that he shared with a little chihuahua. The water bowl had black water in it, he was matted and skinny. The woman who surrendered him knew nothing about him. She didn't know what his temperament was like, what breed he was... she didn't even know how old he was. When I first met this dog he was nervous, skittish and untrusting. He looked so sad... I came over to visit him day after day hoping that he would eventually trust me. He was my birthday present. He is a treasure... a gift that keeps on giving. He is now pampered, spoiled, and loved constantly. He goes everywhere with me, and I don't think he could be happier. He is only just now figuring out how to be a dog. He is finally playing... even smiling. This dog was abused for the entire beginning of his life. He is between 3 and 4 years old. This happens to children and it's not only a tragedy, but the abusers are locked away for years and years. This happens to animals and the abuser is fined at worst. Sometimes they get off the hook completely because they are just "sad" and that it's just an "addiction". I'll post a picture of my little Wilbur later.

Things like this just make it so I can't trust people....
