Life Out Of Home
Well, it's going pretty well so far. I've gotten most everything unpacked. I'm still yet to organise my study, book and DVD collection, but most everything else is good.
There are good and bad things about this moving out thing:
* I don't really miss home as much as I thought I would, but then again, I see my folks alot as I drop in on them before my night shifts a few times a week.
* My house mate is a EXCELLENT cook, and takes great pleasure in feeding me. I tell her I can cook for myself, but I admit it is nice to come home from a tiring shift with hyperactive small children to find something tasty in the fridge and a note demanding I eat it so it doesn't go to waste.
* I sometimes feel like Watson living with Holmes. She's the eccentric, talented and often VERY moody (black moods where she does NOT talk, in particular) housemate. I'm the dependable one, making sure the shopping is done, the parents are in the loop (including hers), organising the practical things (like a lock for our mail box and our internet connection) and trying to act bright despite her dark moods. I'm not an un-moody person myself, but I tend to snap out of it pretty quickly.
* I've taken up a bunch of extra shifts. I'm ferreting money away in the chance I get sick and have to take time off work. Being casual, I don't get sick leave, so I still gotta make rent, pay bills and eat. I'm working over 60 hours a week for the next month. But on a bright note, my housemate offered to cook extra so I wouldn't have to cook. She can be a real sweetheart, really.
So, all in all, not doing too badly!
