and i hope Thundercats will be good, i liked the original but was just young enough to not remember every detail to compare it with.

One of the cable stations recently re-aired the old episodes, I thought it held up surprisingly well. It was actually pretty freaking surreal as far as monster design and stuff.

After seeing the previews I am very hopeful of the new Thundercats series.
Its a prequel to the original...

Personally I'm not much of a fan of newschool anime style and some of the story decisions make me grind me teeth a bit, but that might be the blind nostalgia talking. I don't want to be "that guy", so I'm going to give it a chance.

From what I've read online the show themes/storyline should be pretty good.
But I agree, I do like the look of the original.

Yeah, Bob's Burgers is pretty neat. Kinda nice to have something that isn't Seth Mcfarlane - no hate here, just you know... three shows... ENOUGH ALREADY! [especially with the "demographic reacher" Cleveland Show.] and it helps it is fairly amusing. I'd be curious to see how it is after another season or two, as it matures [if Fox gives it the chance.]

I have enjoyed some of American Dad but that's about it. It's just not my kind of humor or something.

But yeah, Futurama - YAY! - this Thursday I believe. The genderbender episode looks like it'll be a laff.

Yar! American Dad is actually pretty good. I make a point to catch it. I ESPECIALLY love Roger, because... well, he's freaking Roger.

Roger is pretty much what I like too. He's so sociopathic, it's a wonder how they come up with the stuff he cracks off.

What's the issue with Superjail? The issue I keep seeing people bring up centers on "Its got too much story and now and not enough violence!" Which seems rather silly to me because the first season, while wonderful, did have just about every episode follow a kind of recipe that always ended with the overly generous ending of huge, epic, grand finale of carnage. If they had kept doing that exact same schtick past the first season, then there would have been just as many people complaining that the show wasn't offering up anything new.

But as is, the second season has amped up the animation and seemingly channeled some of what use to make the original Looney Tunes stuff beyond fantastic. And its obvious that they're wanting to focus more on the characters and what makes them who they are this season which is always a lovely thing. With any luck, Superjail will go down a similar path to what Venture Brothers and Metalocalypse has done in the way of improving both the writing and the animation as time goes on!

... And that said, I need to bow out now before I start rambling. I'm entirely too passionate when it comes to animation.

That's pretty much my complaint. I mean, I usually like backstory and stuff like that but I didn't think Superjail really required it. I enjoyed it being surreal and nonsensical. That Stingray character is just absolutely painful, for example. And I actually preferred the more primitive animation, now it looks like it's trying to hard. Ah well, different strokes.

I do have to agree that Stringray is more than just a little superfluous. And personally I've always been a fan when animators are noticeably trying improve on what they've done before. But yeah, it really just comes down to different strokes. Perhaps if a season three comes to pass they'll find a nice middle ground to make everyone happy.

That'd be good. Like I said somewhere else, I liked the crude style and the surreality. I DO love the backstory in Venture Bros. and Metalocalpyse - in fact, I didn't like when it seemed like it was becoming more sitcom-y and less mythic - it just seemed like the charm of Superjail didn't come from the stories, so they were emphasizing the wrong aspect.

And I LOVE Bob's Burgers--and, similarly, Archer. I almost died when I made the voice-acting connection.

Aw cool, which one? I adore that show.

Archer I haven't gotten into as much I think because it's usually on when I'm at work, and I don't care for the art style. But Bob's reminds me a heck of a lot of Home Movies, which was one of my all-time favs. I'm really getting to like the characters on the new show.

Bob's VA is the same as Archer's.

Archer is a GREAT show, and you can watch it for free on Hulu.com; at least, this season's episodes. The humor is fucked up. XD There's one episode where he finds his mother's vibrator in a drawer while trying to find her personal files, and it turns on. He's on the phone with another agent, and the guy comments with:


"Just try to think about something else..... like there's no sink in there."

All I can say is HNNNNNGG Futurama.

i loved it before but now the animation is just like... orgasmically smooth and still wonky and great
and the story has improved
so yeah
no disappointment here

I preferred the older animation, now it just seems like it's trying too hard, or something. But like I said above, different strokes. I still think it's good, just not as good.
