OK, so, here a steamy rant for all yall'.
I really do LIKE websights like this. Deviantart was my place to be before this, and now FA is my home because it's the art Genre i like to do so, the choise was obvious.
I like the fact that aside from seeing awesome artwork, i can favorite to let the artists know i liked it, and comment on the things i liked about it, tell them why i care.
however, if i don't have anything constructive to say, even if i like piece, i'll just favorite it or save it to my art folder. that's how i am, that's the way I like behaving.
So it used to drive me insane back on DA getting the "OMG ROFFLES I ARE LUV YOUR PIC BEST NUMBER ONE!!!1!" comments. I mean, i'm really pleased you liked it, but you don't get a participation award. you don't get a prize for "FIRST COMMENT!!!!" you get nothing. I do Art because i enjoy making art, not because i want to win a popularity contest, i don't do it to make myself feel better, i do it because i enjoy it. and it show that even now i have a shit ton of stuff i haven't scanned or color or posted even now because i enjoy the act of making the art and building my own skill more than that of showing it off.
And I know I'm not that greatest of artists, and i'm probably stepping on more than a few toes by saying this, but i really don't care. or rather i DO care, and that's why I'm saying it. art is important to me, so I can't let even the little shit go.
So yeah, that's just my take on things. and i know there are a few people who watch my art: and to them Thank you! that's pretty awsome you care enough to watch! and also there are people who also care enough to comment, and to them thank you! it's sweet you take the time to do that.
So even though i disagree with some of the way people do things here and don't really understand it myself, i still respect your take on things and thank you, even if it does confuse me.

As a parting shot, if anyone disagrees with what i've said here, go ahead and tell me. i LIKE criticism, good bad, or otherwise. if you agree say so. Feel free. If you DON'T agree, than say so too! I'd love to discuss. if you think i'm a fuckin' asshole and wanna tell me so, than for god's sake DO IT. i respect anyone with an opinion loud enough to be heard, even if that opinion is a big fat fuck you. that rocks, that's awesome, lets go, let's have some meaning and value and content and fucking passion about things people. maybe that's really at the core of all this ranting, as and artist, whatever caliber i may be, I'm fucking passionate about what i do. i care goddamnit, and i want other people to care to! So if you care let me know! get good and fired up and tell me why. that's awesome.

Ironically enough, I had my own rant/bitchfest/hissyfit/whatever you want to call it about this sort of subject just today. I was pretty much saying the same thing you were, and it's kinda cool to hear this coming from someone else. :)
I think it's truly awesome that you genuinely care about other people's words without being manipulated by them. That's what a good artist (and a person for that matter) should be like. I only tend to leave comments when I truly am impressed (although that isn't too hard on this site, with all the great work!). I'd leave constructive critisism more often with the stuff I look at, but I confess I tend to be a real softy unless I know the person well. But anyway, I'm rambling.
I know you wrote this journal awhile ago, but it made me smile. :)
