People seem to get the impression that Team Fortress 2 becoming free to play will somehow ruin the experience, because of mic spammers, hackers, etc. This is a massive fallacy, money is not a barrier for stupidity. There are plenty of idiots in pay to play games and they still paid to play the game(IE: World of Warcraft and Call of Duty). More people will come to the game, keeping the game alive, this is not a problem and it also gives you new players to crush, last time I checked people actually enjoyed that. There have been mic spammers and hackers in TF2 long before this game became F2P, hell there were even hackers when this game first came out in 2007 making the game free to play will change nothing. Why should they get it for free when we paid good money? Because if they did pay for this game they would take one look at the Mann Co. microtransaction store and feel a little ripped off.

Oh I only got a hat as compensation. Well what the fuck were you expecting? Royal treatment? Besides, even though the game is free to play, your account is under "Premium" you can do more with your account than free accounts, so what the fuck is your problem? This way the game reaches out to bigger audiences. Plus this game has been damn near close to free for ages due to price drops and sales. Not everybody could afford it, and there are people who can't afford it(IE: college students and the last time I checked they aren't idiots) but now they can.

Folks, this whole "MAKING TF2 FREE TO PLAY WILL RUIN THE EXPERIENCE HERP DERP" is incredibly fallacious and should be ignored.
