NaNo Novel: Here Falls The Thunder
Eh, perhaps I take the fandom a tad too seriously. Most of you would probably notice the abnormal amount of time I spend on the net, and wonder, "Why doesn't he go out and do other things?" In fact, I've had people ask me that. Thing is: there's nothing to do here.
Sure, I may live in California, but trust me, even this wonderous state has it's dead zones. And sure, hanging out with friends would be nice, if they didn't live 30 mins away, the gas usage being enough to nip repeated visits in the bud. I don't have the money to be spending an hour or more each day driving to see my friends.
So, I spend my time, on the net, or on my consoles. Unfortunately, my fustration/annoyance with a lack of viable acitivites in the real world, is compounded by the actions of people on the net. Sure, it might just be words glowing on a screen, but when you keep seeing the same set of words over and over, it starts to bug you.
For starters...I realized that, in having a fursona, the ONLY way to get people's attention, it seems, to either be some slender, femmy whore who is basically a flat-chested girl, or a muscle-ridden, ultra macho super stud. For any of you who have seen my character pictures on my FA page, it's plainly obvious that I am neither.
This of course, cuts my potential candidates almost in half, as I'm either not masculine enough for some (Honestly, since when did being over 10' tall and high on steroids be the sole requirements for masculinity?!), or I'm not small and slender enough (Apparently, being 6'1" is too tall, even though that's small end of the average scale)
Then, comes the issues of species. I'm a cat, a black jaguar to be precise. (Why is it EVERYONE has to call me a panther, I make it plain as fucking day that I'm a jaguar! And then I get this bullshit about 'jaguar, panther, same thing' and it INFURIATES me!!) Apparently, us cats are 'overdone' and boring...but foxes and canines are A-okay...WTF?! So, I try to spice things up a bit.
How so? I decide to make Mel interesting. Though Fantasy-setting Mel has a backstory (yet unwritten), Modern/Future Mel did not. So, I decided to use a little creative lisence, and write this little bit here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/763329/
Yeah, it seems a bit farfetched, and a bit House-of-the-Dead-ish, but hey, there's stranger shit out there. So I write this piece up, and use it as the basis of the new Mel...and guess what? Apparently, people 'preferred' the old, typical feline Mel. Something about 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.'
Excuse me?! People are allowed to have all kinds of outlandish backstories and shit, and when /I/ decide to use a little creativity, it's bad?! Apparently people who have maybe spent 5 hours or so TOTAL (note, this isn't even all in the same day) playing and writing with me prefer the old Mel. Anyone else see the hypocrisy?
So I decided: screw it. Screw. Them. All. I'm fuckin' sick of trying to please people and be what they would find appealing. I'm going to do my own damn thing. I won't let other people be hypocritical and do drastic things to their characters, and say it's fine, but then complain when I do something new and drastic.
I've just about fucking. HAD. IT.

Since when did you start caring about what other people think about? I thought i was the only man whos opinion you cared about. *winks*
I had an old acquaintance online for who i sketched FOR FREE just as concept design experiments and such, the guy kept asking for MY characters to be bigger cause they looked weak, i gave him two chances to watch what he said as, it really aint polite to call people's character weak nor was that any valid criticism on FREE work. Second time he said the same thing: Block, delete. No journal entry, notes, nothing. So a simply dodge measure evaded a shit load of drama that could have turned into 50 cents style bickering and dissing.
Dont be phased easily man, its only cyber-space.
